Away league match played on 05 February 2011.
Kicked off at 12:00 AM

Match 14 : We met at KFC for 8.40am to travel to Ballysillan leisure centre for our league match again Springfield Star who are 1 point behind Holywood and still looking to win the league. The last time we met we were well beat by Springfield 5 : 2.

Our boys had other plans this time and played probably their best game of the season against one of the top teams in the league. The game was evenly matched with both teams working hard and creating chances. Jai Sykes pulled of some great saves for us in goal and continues to get better and better every match but at half time the teams were deadlocked at 0 : 0.

HALF TIME :  0 : 0

The second half got under way and we got off to a good start when Stuart Graham’ s shot was pushed rounded the post by the keeper, Matthew Guest swung over the resulting corner and Jack Patterson met it at the back post to head it into the net to put us 1 : 0 up after 34 minutes.

The match was so even it was hard to see how the result would finish, Matthew Cunningham came on for Kurtis Barkley and Stuart Graham fell back to right back and defensively we were in control until 10 minutes from time when Springfield grabbed their chance and got the equaliser 1 : 1. The last 10 minutes was now set up to be crucial for both teams as Springfield were looking for three points to keep up the push to win the league and for Ards to show everyone that we are a team to fear but with 4 minutes left on the clock Springfield grabbed the lead with a bizarre goal, when there player got the ball out on the wing fired over the cross but it somehow floated over Jai’s head and into the net to put Springfield 2 : 1 up. Stuart Hannah came on for Marcus Baron as we went for broke with three at the back, five across the middle and two up front. We pushed hard for the last 6 minutes camped in or around Springfield’s box but just couldn’t get that equaliser.

Well done to all the team, you have certainly shown all that you are up for every team in the league so bring them on and we will play our football, big results will come I have know doubt about that boys keep playing the way you are you are making us all proud.
