Home league match played on 04 February 2012.
Kicked off at 10:00 AM

Saturday saw us play Sirocco at Blanchflowers on the Stadium pitch and we knew this would be another close game as they have been between us.

We started brightly and certainly were up for the cause but so were Sirocco so this had all the makings of being an excellent match and end to end football right through the first half but no one could find the net before half time. The only down side of the first half was losing Stuart Graham to and injury early in to the match as Stuart has been strong all season for us.

HALF TIME:  0 . 0

In the second half we took the game to Sirocco but just couldn’t take our chance, Rhys Mackie coming close twice, Matthew Guest sending a free kick just over the crossbar surely we would put one away but against the run of play Sirocco went up the other end and score from a super header to leave us trailing 1 : 0. Full credit to our boys they never gave up and kept going right to the final whistle. We lost Rhys Mackie half way through the second half to a thigh injury which he tried to shake off but as the match went on he was struggling. Matthew Guest probably had the best chance of the match when the ball fell to him in front of goals but as he went to take the shot he slipped and the chance was gone, Also Brandon McFerran hit a raspier from about 25 yards out heading straight for goal only to see it hit off the keeper. By this stage everyone was pushing up as they all wanted to get a result but it just wasn’t our day, luck certainly wasn’t with us and we ended out losing the match 1 : 0

FULL TIME: 0 . 1

Managers Comments:

This was a great gritty and brave performance from the wee Ards men they never gave up and pushed right till the end. If we had of had some luck we could have scored 3 or 4 but it just wasn’t to be. Well done everyone for showing your true colours and performing like a team that wants the league it’s not over yet keep the faith and win your last two and you never know what could happen.

Thanks boys for make me so proud this season I always knew you had it in you and now you all believe as well.
