MATCH 9 : We reach the halfway point this week in our League, so we played Ulidia and a resheduled pitch. We were originally due to play at Moat Park but due to heavy rain the pitch their was flooded so we were moved to play at Henry Jones at 9am. The weather was slightly better but the pitches were in good order for playing. The boys took the game to Ulidia right from the start and created numerous chances in the first 15 minutes but found the Ulidia goal keeper in top form. We did get the break through in the 19th minute when Stuart Graham found Noah Crenshaw inside the box and Noah with his back to goal turned and rattled the ball into the net to put us 1 : 0 up. The second goal came three minutes later this time Ryan Hannah gathered the ball in midfield threaded the ball through to Stuart Graham who placed a low shot from just outside the box into the left hand corner of the net which deceived the Ulidia goalkeeper to make it 2 : 0. Even though we were well on top that's how it stayed at half time. HALF TIME : 2 : 0 The second half was all Ards with Jai Sykes in goal having very little to do thanks to the superb back four of Marcus Baron, Reece Atkinson, Jack Hare & Brandon McFerran who were on top form for the hole of the match. Three minutes into the second half i decided to rest Noah Crenshaw who scored in the first half but is only back from a groin strain, so i replaced him up front with Jack Patterson and only on the field for a minute and Jack had scored to make it 3 : 0. Then 7 minutes later yes he did it again Jack Patterson made it 4 : 0, is there any where this boy can't play he just seems to shine where ever you play him and for the remainder of the match his pace and ability tormented Ulidia. Alex Majury came on for Andrew Graham on the left and Kurtis Barkley came on for Matthew Cunningham who was also recovering from an ankle injury from last week. Then in the 45th minute we got a corner which Matthew Guest sent over and Jack Hare who had came up from defence for put the ball in the back of the net to make it 5 : 0. We then went to a back three taking Marcus Baron off and putting Stuart Hannah on up front and Christopher Duncan came on for Brandon McFerran with Kurtis Barkley falling back to defence and Christopher going onto the right wing. Alex Majury grabbed our 6th goal, when Reece Atkinson found him with the pass on the left Alex carried on passed the defender headed for goal and when the keeper came out he slotted the ball passed him to score, that's 2 in 2 for Alex. Jack Patterson should have got his hat-trick in the last minute when his blistering pace saw him go by three players and find himself one on one with the goal keeper only to put his effort over the cross bar. FINAL SCORE : 6 : 0 Well done boys fine team performance, we need to keep building on it. Next weeks match is Ulidia again at Moat park, so we cant get complacent we must still work hard or things could be different.
