Away cup match played on 10 March 2012.
Kicked off at 10:00 AM

Today saw us travel to the every famous smallest pitch at Victoria Park to play Dixon Colts in the first match of our group stage of the Supplementary Cups.

In our group is Dixon Colts, Holywood & S.O.P.F.C. where we play each other once, top two go through to the Robert McMaster Cup & third & fourth go into the O’Hare Cup.

We were still missing a few key players due to injuries but we started the game very brightly and scored within three minutes, Matthew Guest got the ball out on the left wing found Noah just in front and Noah unleashed a super shot into the back of the net from 20 yards out. We continued to push forward and eventually in the 11th minute we were two up again the pairing of Matthew Guest & Noah Crenshaw would combine again this time the opposite way round Noah supplied Matthew with the ball and Matthews trademark long range effort found the back of the net 2 : 0. Things were going according to plan or where they.

Half Time 2 : 0

The second half got under way but complacency set in and all though we controlled the game we were getting to complacent and just couldn’t get the ball into the net. Even with the introduction of roll on roll off subs in this cup competition it didn’t seem to matter the boys were all of a sudden down two or three gears from the way they started the match. The end result was probably that we got the three points without playing to our full potential and we should be near back to full strength next week all being well.

Full Time 2 : 0

Managers Comments:

Boys this is probably your poorest performance this season especially when you got off to a great start, we need to remember in order to win Cups we must play for 70 Minutes. Well done to Noah Crenshaw just back from injury and scored one and set up the other. Also to our make shift defence with only two of our usual back four in place Brandon McFerran, normally at right back but played central, Andy Graham at left back. The two drafted in where Jack Patterson our leading top goal scorer went into central defence and Matthew Cunningham went into right back, well done boys strong defending when needed and when called upon the safe hands of Jai Sykes in goal.

Know more performances like that boys we need to keep on top of things for the whole game.
