Home league match played on 31 March 2012.
Kicked off at 1:00 PM

Pembury have been the B&A boggie team in recent years and even this season they are the only team to topple the black and red on their travels in the league.  So this week there was plenty riding on the game.  With Hathaway out injured there were timely returns to the side for Bish and Hamish and likewise at right back with Pat and Junior away on a cottaging holiday together we were all pleased to see Frage’s ugly little mug home for the school holidays.

We came flying out of the blocks and looked dangerous from the start, exactally the kind of start we needed.  Baggo looked up for it and ready to run their fallbacks in to the ground and Spud and Hamish got the measure of the middle early doors.  So it was no surprise that we went in front before the quarter of an hour mark.  Pembury failed to properly clear a Thom Nowell corner and Baggo picked up the loose ball.  He picked out Hobbit at the far stick who hooked the ball back across with his right boot directly on to the head of Sargent Major Bishop.  He was more than happy to accept the gift and headed in to an empty net.  It dropped off somewhat after that and became scrappy, Pembury started to take control of the game and apply pressure.  There were chances from B&A, Gandhi blazed over from distance and their keeper had to be at his best to tip one over the bar and one round the post from a Hobbit header.  Although Pembury had much of the ball the black and red back5 kept their chances to a minimum, Gandhi carried his good form the week before on in this game, Frage looked energetic down the right and linked up well with Baggo and Bish and Bowlsey formed a brick wall in the middle.  The second half went one way then the other but it was that man Bish again who popped up with the goods.  Corners and free kicks are normally our speciality but this week they were well below par so it was a massive relief when Spud whipped one in perfectly with about 10 minutes to go.  And it was met perfectly by the big man, burying it hard in to the Pembury net.  It capped a flawless display from Bish who also held his own in the pub afterwards downing a B&A dirty (he got lucky as Pat was away)
