The game that never existed................

BBOB started the first cup game of the season impressively, playing the ball around well and creating plenty of chances to take the lead, but somehow this never happened! The best chances fell to left midfielder Dan Buchanan, who fired just over the bar & striker Jamie Eade came close twice. Centre forward Matt Barton missed a number of half-chances, firing over the bar both times, somehow BBOB were unable to hit the target. In 37th minute and entirely against the run of play, a View long throw managed to elude the whole BBOB defence and found a View player unmarked in front of goal for a simple tap in! And two minutes later The View were awarded a penalty for a much disputed push by BBOB centre back Adam Leaver, the View forward made no mistake from the spot!

Luckily on the stroke of half-time a far post diagonal CROSS from left back Ryan Satterley sailed into the top corner of the View goal to put BBOB right back into the game! After a re-assuring half time chat BBOB set out to win the game, they pushed players forward but were still unable to break down an impressive View defence. This gamble nearly backfired as this left The View with opportunities of extending their lead. Luckily the few break away chances that they had came to nothing! Most of their efforts on goal sailed well over the BBOB goal!

Finally in the 79th minute, another Ryan Satterley cross found centre forward Matt Barton in space in the View's penalty box, his well struck volley fired past the stranded goalkeeper to level the game! BBOB kept pushing forward but were unable to find the break through to end the game before the ninety minutes were up! The game remained level at the ninety minute mark and extra time beckoned!

Whilst both captains awaited the coin toss for the extra 30 minutes, the game was suddenly abandoned; this was due to the referee's son, who had attended the match as a spectator, somehow injuring his arm. The ref had to leave the game to attend to his child and therefore the match could not continue! That was a first for everyone involved! Both teams would have to do it all again the following week!

Overall, it was a positive performance by BBOB, there was strong squad on show, with three substitutes, sadly one of the subs, Elliot Fletcher was unable to take part as he was due to play during extra time!
