Home league match played on 15 October 2011.
Kicked off at 2:00 PM

Well done today lads, you put in a solid performance and got the result you deserved.

We have played better than we did today but I liked the way we kept going. We started ok but after about 10mins it looked like we were going to end up like last week, with a few little niggling comments and people starting to get frustrated with each other but unlike last week we kept believing that we could get the result and we did.

We had 4 changes from last week with Shaun taking one for the team (and saving Rick from having to play centre half) Gavin starting on the left side of midfield and Martin & Damo playing in the centre of midfield. The defence in general played well and looked solid with Chris and Shaun not really looking in any serious trouble , Rick got forward (whenever the sun wasn’t in his eyes!) and Dan struck up a good partnership with Gavin and played some good 1-2’s down the left.

Our first goal came down the right hand side and with Rick finding some space on the edge of their box looked up and toe punted the ball goalwards, Ryan flicked it on and Gavin was at the back post to head home.  Alex was unlucky not to make it 2-0 when he picked the ball up about 30yards out made himself  a yard of space and unleashed a thunderous shot which the keeper just got a hand too and pushed it onto the post and we went in 1-0 up.

We talked at half time about how they would begin to tire as they had worked hard closing us down and in the 2nd half they did tire, this made things a lot easier for us. We played the ball around more and created chances the 2nd goal came with some good play between Rick, Ryan and Alex who slide the ball through to Martin who slide the ball past the keeper and into the net to get the goal his hard work deserved well done.

The 3rd was a great solo goal from Alex who picked the ball up on the right hand side we past 2 defenders and put the ball into the net past the advancing keeper.

A couple of positive things to note from today’s game, Martin and Damo had a great game in midfield, Gav had a good debut (even if he did think he was still playing for Rayford !!) and we all stuck at it today when things weren’t going for us and got a result. Shaun & Chris were superb at the back considering it was there first game together.

We are a new team with lots of players who haven’t played together and we will get better and better as the season goes on so keep trying to play football and you will get the results.
