Home league match played on 30 March 2013.
Kicked off at 1:00 PM

It being the first game in another 3 week lay off period did mean that our style of play and out team play was going to suffer when we playedBKSsports but the ugly win was the right result.

In the first few exchanges we were slow as we normally are, with our opponents giving us a bit of a challenge. Granted we had made some changes, a couple enforced due to people being away and a few more contemplated and with this our game took time to build. Ben came in for his first game with us coveringGarywith confidence and a calming reassurance and Lee T started for the first time in a few weeks to complement the 4-3-3 formation. Damo was back in the middle with Martin and Big Matt was back to impress and add steel and height.

After about 15 minuets though we calmed down a lot and started to turn their defenders, some probing balls from Alex, Damo and the tireless running from most to support the forwards gave me a strong feeling we would take the lead. Twenty minuets in then we got what I felt we deserved, Damo’s cross field ball was headed back into the mix by Alex and Matt was on hand to knock in a scrappy one past the oncoming keeper.

Normally at this point we go to sleep and let in the opposition but today we didn’t we pressed again and Alex was denied by the best save of the day when he smashed in a half volley for the keep to push it over the bar. Instead today we looked a little more hungry although we didn’t really feel as if we knew we were, people were touchy and a little lethargic, so no surprise when the ball took a completely wicked freak deflection to leave Ben stranded to pullBKSback into the game…….1-1 then at Half time andBKSwere playing full of confidence. A few very brief words later to iron out our tetchy frustration and we were cajoled back into the game.

Todays win was never going to be our best performance; we will take a couple weeks to create that, and today was about the winning. From the start of the second half we were quiet, not a trait I enjoy as it gives hope to our opponents but when Alex went through to be fouled and win a penalty my nerves were calmed quite considerably. Boom dispatched and 3 points secured on the 50 minuets mark.

BKSwere never at the races today we were allowing them to play and create and enjoy their Saturday afternoon run around. We nearly beat ourselves and with that people need to take up arms. We all play for one another; we all play to the best of our ability either on the day or on a personal level. WE win it for ourselves our team and our hope for the league title……For the record the win takes us aboveBKSand with Landwick playing Rayford where points will be lost, it also takes us much closer to achieving what we set out to do.
