15th January 2011

For a change the team made some changes, we turned up like winners and acted as if we were the only team capable of winning. True we need some impetus and true some players who came back are very important perhaps as much as the new players now signed and ready to claim there places, also true we played as a unit rather than individuals. We were resolute against a confident and well established team, plus we controlled the first half completely bar a few set pieces.

I spoke at half time about the need for men to stand up and be counted and Ben spoke about technical improvements to compete and to challenge our opponents, even the captain Neil spoke to rally our passions and in the second half, we got, for me a even better performance than the first. We were against the wind and against the wall for the first twenty and we didn’t fold or bottle any challenge we stood and won the game like we should of.

The first half saw Dan H, Kemp, Mike, Parker, Shane and Neil all excel and dominate a well balanced and confident team. True we had the wind but we also had to win a premier league game and that’s never easy. In the first 10 minuets a great pass from Dan saw Mike E dive and header a great goal, Shane broke away and slide a lovely shot past the keeper for two nil. Then suddenly we looked as if we could do anything. Parker was running the midfield Dan H bossing it…..I thought things couldn’t be better.

The second half saw Kemp drop into the back four, Mike come central and Andy filled in at Right mid. To be honest Ensign then threw the kitchen sink at us we coped and countered brilliantly. True we lost our way a little and for about 10 minuets we looked leggy, on came Harley and then the pressure changed towards Ensigns goal, he slotted by the end of the game to round off a good debut this was after some great solo work and Anthony also netted to put us 3-0 up before hand; following in and picking up a spill from the opponents goalie.

The right result was never in question, Ewan may have gave a penalty away but in truth it was as blatant as our effort and work ethic and as blatant as the way the game was and should have gone. We left Frosty on the side, Tom we were missing Lee b, Billy, Tierney to mention a couple and in truth with performances like this they will have to wait. This is a good win to set us up for Weir next week where I expect nothing less than another win and another team performance. The win takes us up at least 2 places in the league, win our remaining games in hand and were forth but lets not get ahead of ourselves it starts all again next week.
