When I look at Saturdays result I, like most, feel like a pang of disappointment at the result but I feel it doesn’t tell the real story. We were 1-0 down when Neil got sent off, then Rochford’s second goal came in the 43 minute of the 1st half and should we of taken our initial chances the first half could of easily ended with us being 5-2 up.

The first half showed us to match and better a team unbeaten all year, Rochford have only dropped 2 points with 2 draws and have scored in abundance in 6 of their last 7 games. So looking at the first half I think chance for chance we were creating more and just possession alone we were far superior. They knew they had a fight ion their hands.

All this knowing we were never winning the league today or even getting close with whatever the result today and it was a free game, one which we can match up to the league leaders and see how far we have come in a year, my honest opinion we are not doing to bad………

Let look at the differences between the two clubs, I will concentrate on the goals scored against us, and O G, two large goal keeping errors, two free headers, and I can easily show we made a lot of individual errors and never really coped in the second half. We run out of steam and ideas; it was obvious in this game and more blatant than any other match we have had all season. Everyone wanted a system change, I changed it, but we conceded more goals than when we set out with my originally altered system. If people want to point fingers for this or that let me remind you a game is made up from a multitude of things, we were showing very few good things during today’s play.

So as a football game is made up of different aspects ability, morale, support and passion I’m glad today we didn’t seem to lack to much different to Rochford even if the result indicated the contrary. We lost heavily but we all added to our own problems, we never looked after the ball or played simple passes, we worked tirelessly until our legs gave up at about 70 minuets and we all felt each painful goal after goal scored against us. We also all felt let down by individual and team performance, so barring a little steam being blown off we have now got to put this to bed and concentrate on the next run of games towards the cup final. All of which starts with Weir next week at home.

Truth is we met a good team today and played quiet poorly; we were punished by a team whom quiet rightly are top of the table. The score became irrelevant after the 5th goal, I was just looking for a bit of composure and heart from each player’s performance, and I wanted to see who out their on the pitch wanted to play and who wanted the game just to finish. To be honest I found out a lot about each individual today which will help the management selection when big games are due to be played.

Let’s right this week off, we knew it was a hard task and we knew the 2 points for the win would be a great prize to take from Rochford. We also knew it would be a very difficult achievement with 11 men let alone 10. We have 9 games left (including the final) so the league should finish about the second week in May this means also we have 3 or 4 games more than all those teams around us, were still on target for this seasons projected goal lads, we actually in good shape but need to heal and push on, we cant let this slip us up affect us and need to look forward.
