8TH LEAGUE GAME OF THE SEASON

After playing Friends For Life 4 weeks ago & beating them comfortably 5-1 at home & plus looking at there previous results in the league playing 8 games, winning only 1, scoring 13 & conceding 37 goals, we didn't really expect there to be an upset on the cards.

With again only 13 players to choose from due to injuries, we pretty much went for the same starting line-up that beat Westminster last week.

Starting Line-Up: Lee, Liam, Kev, Daniel, Powell'y, Ash, Wayne, Chico, Ricky, Alex & Adoo           Subs: Dazza & Beefy

First Half: With the pitch very muddy & heavy it was hard for both teams to get a passing game flowing & in most spells it being very hard to watch & cos of the bad conditions De Novo Winger Chico ended up pulling his hamstring in the 10th minute so a tactical change was made with Dazza coming on & going Right Back & Liam going Right Midfield and pretty much having loads of wasted chances we finally had a goal in the 35th minute & the deadlock was brokeing with Anthony Adoo using his pace & power on the left to to calmly pass an easy threw ball to Alex Odwell on the 6 yard box to nicely side foot the ball in to net 1-0.....De Novo. Now with the greens in the lead it was only a matter of time until they got another & with that 7 minutes later Ricky Johnson was two-footed 25 yards out & De Novo were awarded a free-kick & with Alex Odwell scoring a screamer last week with a free-kick it surely wasnt gonna happen again was it???? But yes it did with his confidence growing week by week he smashed the ball from 25 yards in to the roof of the net 2-0....De Novo. With some terrible decisions by the ref today with him pretty much giving Friends For Life every decision  it was only a matter of time until they got something lucky out of it & in the 44th minute there striker was clearly offside by 5 yards & Chico putting his flag up for a blatant offside decision the ref over ruled him & gave them the goal 2-1...Friends For Life.

Second Half: Now with the boys in the driving seat & looking for more it was only a matter of time until we did score again but again for the 2nd time in the match a De Novo player had to come off with a pulled hamstring so off came Alex Odwell & on came Gaffa Beefy playing in attacking midfield. It took til the 53rd minute for a goal to come with some good trickery from Ricky Johnson in midfield to put a threw ball to Anthony Adoo to go on a one on one with the keeper & calmly slotting the ball in the bottom corner 3-1...De Novo. Now with the game pretty much in the bag for the greens it took some good possession from the away side but that was cut short with some good football in midfield & Liam Boon going threw & scoring a nice goal 4-1...De Novo. Now with the the game pretty much won for the greens it only took a minute later to make it 5 with a great ball over the top from Wayne Garrett to put Adoo threw again on the keeper & slotting the ball home 5-1...De Novo.

Well done boys keep up the hard work & see you all next Sunday at Wandsworth Park, Be at changing rooms 9:30am.
