Dominic Football Academy faced Capstone FA in a tense cup tie at Don Bonsco on 6 May 2026, kicking off at 2:00pm. The match extended to 100 minutes plus injury time, with Dominic Football Academy emerging victorious by two goals to nil in front of 500 spectators. Referee Samuel Jumo oversaw the 11-a-side encounter, which saw Dominic’s attacking prowess prove decisive.

Dominic Football Academy lined up in a 4-1-2-3 formation, deploying a solid defensive back four with Adejumo Samad at right back, Ajani Seleem and Olasunboye Paul as central defenders, and Moshud Samad on the left. In midfield, Adeoye David anchored the central midfield role, tasked with shielding the defence and distributing play. Ahead of him, Abidoye Emmanuel operated on the right attacking midfield flank, while Adeyemi Abdullahi took up the left attacking midfield position, both expected to support the front three. The forward line featured Miracle Hazard on the right, John Precious as the central striker, and Olapade Khalid on the left, all charged with leading the attack and creating goal-scoring opportunities. On the bench, Olayiwola Selim and Awoyemi Favour were named as substitutes.

The match began with Dominic Football Academy asserting early dominance. In the 14th minute, Emmanuel Abidoye opened the scoring, expertly finishing after a precise assist from Miracle Hazard. This early breakthrough set the tone for the game, with Dominic looking to control possession and press high. Four minutes later, Olapade Khalid tested the Capstone FA goalkeeper with a high attempt, though it sailed over the bar.

The physicality of the match soon became apparent. At 19 minutes, Moshud Samad received a yellow card, signalling the intensity of the contest. Capstone FA responded with their own disciplinary issues, collecting three yellow cards between the 37th and 41st minutes, including one for violent conduct and another for unsporting behaviour, which disrupted their rhythm and allowed Dominic to maintain control.

Just before half-time, Dominic made a tactical substitution, replacing striker John Precious with Olayiwola Selim in the 44th minute, aiming to inject fresh energy into the attack. The second half resumed with Dominic continuing to press, but the game remained tightly contested. Ajani Seleem was booked for violent conduct shortly after the restart, reflecting the ongoing physical battle.

Adejumo Samad was replaced by Awoyemi Favour at the 49th minute mark, further adjusting the defensive line. The half-time whistle came at 50 minutes, marking the end of normal time in this extended cup fixture.

Dominic’s attacking efforts persisted after the break. Olapade Khalid twice came close to scoring, with attempts in the 50th and 51st minutes, the latter ruled offside due to solid defending. Miracle Hazard was also flagged offside at 55 minutes for a mistimed run, highlighting the fine margins in Dominic’s forward play.

Capstone FA’s discipline again came under scrutiny with a yellow card for unsporting behaviour in the 63rd minute. Dominic’s attackers continued to push, with Olapade Khalid and Olayiwola Selim both caught offside in the 67th minute, the latter also benefiting from good defending by the opposition.

Miracle Hazard was offside again at 73 minutes, but the breakthrough came swiftly after. In the 74th and 75th minutes, Olayiwola Selim committed two fouls, including a push, which momentarily disrupted Dominic’s momentum. However, in the 76th minute, Emmanuel Abidoye doubled Dominic’s lead with a close-range finish using his left foot, expertly set up by Miracle Hazard’s short pass. This goal effectively sealed the contest.

Shortly after his assist, Miracle Hazard was cautioned for unsporting behaviour, adding to the disciplinary tally. The closing stages saw further fouls from Dominic players, with Adeyemi Abdullahi penalised for handball in the 82nd minute and Olasunboye Paul booked for a push a minute later, but Capstone FA were unable to mount a comeback.

Emmanuel Abidoye’s clinical finishing and overall influence earned him the player of the match accolade, as Dominic Football Academy secured a well-deserved 2-0 victory to progress in the cup. The disciplined defensive display combined with incisive attacking play proved the difference on the day at Don Bonsco.
