Away cup match played on 23 February 2014.
Kicked off at 10:30 AM

30 minutes extra time played.

Was a very windy game on a very small pitch. EGB being the away team and against the wind in the first half.

Rec United started better than EGB for the first 10 minutes of the game, but for rest of the half it was all EGB. Rec Uniteds number 9 was causing all sorts of bother the defenders of EGB and he eventually got the better of him to slot the ball home past the EGB keeper Sean Flanagan who has no chance. Rec United then stopped off the gas not using the wind to full effect, with them playing long ball which were going out of play or racing through to Flanagan. EGB then stepped up their game with firstly Jordan Lengthorn, winning a few tackles and then Luke Newmn putting in a few fiesty tackles, then EGB were starting to play flowing football. 20 mins into the game and egb's number 8 Jordan Lengthorn took a quick throw into steven hayles who took the ball accross the defender for the ball to go closely over the bar. They then won a corer 2 minutes later from a blocked cross from Ryan Williams, Thomas gardiner then played in a delicious ball where Lengthorn just missed the header, and the ball falling to Ryan Kiernan who heads goalwards for the ball to be blocked by the defender and cleared, EGB contiued to be on top with a few chances from Ryan Kiernan, Steven Hayles & Daniel Tierney. EGB won another corner and Thomas Gardiner whipped the ball in and Jordan Lengthorn got infront of his man to head bullet header into the top corner. 5 minutes later a corner from the otherside again from Thomas Gardiner who then played a floated ball into the box and Jordan Lengthorn was there get the first touch for it then to get deflected in past the keeper. EGB had a great chance to make it 3-1 before half time with Gardiner playing the ball to Lengthorn in the middle getting past a player and then passing to Kiernan, who then played into Tierney for a one on one shot where the Keeper came out on top to keep the game at 2-1 to EGB.

The second half was again all EGB upto the 65 min where EGB sub Josh Caulfield got injured from a horrible tackle from the opposition player and all players were suprise to see no yellow card given, and on many occasions the referee was very shy to award cards.

The ball was being kept well in the middle with Newman and Lengthorn with having the willing runner up front of Dan Tierney, Few chances fell EGB's way from Kiernan, Hayles, Tierney & Newman where after playing no games in 4/5 weeks for some players the legs just stopped working infront of goal.

Rec United then took advantage of the EGB team down to 10 men, and started using the extra man in midfield, with no outlet upfront with only little John Mcerlean up there, egb were struggling to keep the ball but were restraining them from scoring.

But with 10 mins to go the ball was outwide and the ball got played through to the striker who seemed offside placed the ball home past the keeper to make the game 2-2.

Extra time began and EGB were very tired and you could tell it was taking it out of them with only having 10 men. The ball got played into the back post and most players turned away thinking John Mcerlean would clear the ball but what happended next was incredible, he went to take a touch with was very heavy and was side footed into the goal to make it 3-2 and the game changed from there, with EGB heads dropping and then a flood of goals went in for the rest of extra time.
