Home league match played on 13 September 2009.
Kicked off at 12:00 AM

First league game of the season at home to a struggling Wellington side that The Rose felt superior too.

Wellington started the better team and using their long ball tactics pressurised the back four mainly down the right wing, there pressure paid off with the opening goal, after a complete cock up from the usually solid Joe Mcneil, the lad ran through rounded the keeper and slotted home.

The first goal woke The Rose team up and they finally started playing some decent football that you would expect with the calibre of players in the team, following a nice move that started from the even heart beating central midfield, the ball was sprayed out to the newly formed right winger oggy, and put in a good cross to the back post, where the ever reliable Gaffa arrived and headed home to equalise, the game was firmly in The Rose's hands and they continued to push forward for the remainder off the half and missed several chances when they should of put the game beyond the reach of the opposition, half time all square, the rose were the better team overall for the first half.

Bad moment of the half would of been Joe Mcneil's cock up but his dark limelight was stolen by an accidental headbutt that caused Mike Brady to finally get some gash in his life!!! the pink vaseline looked a treat!!

Second half The Rose started slow again, although after five ten mins they got moving and battered wellington and YET AGAIN missed several chances when they should of put the game to bed, Darren Dunleavy and Anthony Horrox were the main culprits of the chances throughout the game.

Following a long ball from Andy, Darren harrassed the two centre halves, got lucky turned the defender and smashed home, making the game 2-1 to the home team, The Rose continued to control the game and were coasting along, when the mother of all ref cock ups happened.

A corner from Wellington came into the box and the ref blew for pulling in the box, but failed to know which Rose player commited the foul, which confused and frustrated all The Rose players, after a few barneys later and Joe Ryan's distraction, the substitute for Wellington slotted the ball home with a nice penalty with an undeserved and quite frankly unjustified equaliser, BULL S$$T

Following the goal the rose tried hard to create some more chances one of which fell to Lee Ingham who with a nice little run made some space but leant back and skied the ball for what in a rugby game would of been a nice TRY!!

In the end the points were shared and The Rose left the game disappointed with a point to a side that were nowhere near on the level of game.

However opening game, it might take a while but we will get there!!

Come on the ROSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
