Warriors vs FC Twente Somethings

Fc20 Outfight Warriors for narrow victory

First Half

Good passing by FC20 sees Mark collect the ball. Mark then threads a fantastic through ball to Steve who hit the ball nicely with his right foot. Hit the post and in... Great finish. FC20 1-0 Warriors

James Barrow then makes a break on the outside and delivers a great cross to Stewart. Stewart miss hit the shot but it fell to Steve Carter who smashed it into back of net. FC20 2-0 Warriors

Warriors are on the break and their attacker has a shot across goal. Neil saves but it comes out to Warriors striker who has to score but Barrow clears off line. Fantastic defending.

Chance for Clarke as through ball is chipped in by Mark but Clarke Completely miss hits the ball...again!!!

Through ball played to Steve who smashes a shot against the bar. Second time that the woodwork has been rattled today.

Mark runs through on goal and shoots near post but it goes wide. 2 FC20 players were at near post for tap in.

First Half summary

Good start by FC20 creating lots of chances. This should be 3 or 4 nil easily. FC20 look to be tiring.

Second half

Great start from Warriors as the ball gets worked across the pitch. Warriors’ midfielder has a cheeky long shot at goal which hits keeper and goes in. GOAL FC20 2-1 Warriors

Goal has rattled FC20 and improved confidence of Warriors who try to move ball around pitch. They just seem to be lacking that final pass in the final third.

With only 5 players FC20 are fatiguing rapidly so they play a lot deeper. Clarke comes back to defence in order to protect this lead.

Goal line scramble as Warriors player gets forward and pokes ball past keeper only for it to find Clarke who gets it out of danger.

Warriors throw everything at FC20. However FC20 are hitting Warriors continuously on counter attack however they miss a host of good chances, Mr Carter being the main culprit as he hits a shot over bar from 6 yards. Mark also gets through only to once again miss a crucial chance.

Warriors keep playing balls into the gaps but FC20 are much organised at the back and intercept everything without Neil having to make a save from long distance. Clarke, Garland and Barrow are like a wall and Warriors cannot get past. Last minute and FC20 counter again. Mark looks for Stewart and plays a great through ball. Stewart goes one on one with keeper however keeper pulls off good save. Not Clarke’s day.

Full Time whistle blows and this is a great victory for FC20 under the circumstances.

Full Time Summary

Going in to this match I still agree that FC20 are by far the superior team. However, what evened this match out was the squad depth. FC20 had no subs and this halted their performance as fitness had an impact on almost all players. Clarke had to swap positions as there is no way he could have been efficient in midfield the whole match. Barrow played out of position and Mark looked a little shy having to play a little bit deeper. Steve worked hard but had nothing in the tank at the end. I feel tactically FC20 played well as fought really hard. I think playing defensively in the 2nd half actually won them the match. Warriors had 2 subs and had tremendous energy levels for the full 30 minutes. I do believe if FC20 had a keeper then they would have won more securely as there would be more energy in the team therefore more creativity. FC20 won the first half by a considerable amount and it only changed as fatigue crept into the match. I do not think they linked up as well as they could of but I feel that could be because new players were introduced and the style of play conflicted. This will get better as time goes on. I do think Warriors have a case that they deserved a point but if you analyse the first half and then look at the clear cut chances that FC20 missed you can understand why i think this was a fair result. FC20 need a keeper...otherwise they will not progress to next level.
