Furngate vets 6 vs 1 Lewes FC Veterans Reserves

TE VETS 6–1 LEWES SELECT ? MATCH REPORT | UP THE GATE! Six goals, three points, and another statement made! Furngate Vets went into this one with a fully loaded squad, ready for battle, and with the gaffer finally approaching the last game of his lengthy ban. There was a real buzz around the team, and the lads certainly delivered a performance to remember! From the very first minute to the final whistle, Furngate were on the front foot, showing exactly what this team is about. The three-touch style of football we have worked so hard to cement into our game was on full display, with quick passing, constant movement, a brilliant press and a real desire to dominate proceedings. ? GOALS GALORE! The goals came thick and fast, with Tommy Johnson stealing the show with a fantastic hat-trick, earning himself the well-deserved Man of the Match award. Tommy was outstanding throughout, leading by example and proving once again what a massive asset he is to this side. There was also a special moment for Luke McLean, who grabbed his first goal for the club! A brilliant milestone and hopefully the first of many in a Furngate shirt. Chris Lancashire produced another great finish, while Ben Allison celebrated his birthday in style, calmly slotting home from the penalty spot. There's no better birthday present than finding the back of the net! The assists were shared around, with Dan Storey, Chris Lancashire, Kenny van-de-peer and Luke McLean and Aaron Ageyman lmaking valuable contributions. It was a real team performance, with everyone playing their part. ?? A COMPLETE TEAM PERFORMANCE Every single player was outstanding. It was one of those games where making substitutions became a difficult job because everyone was performing at such a high level. The football was brilliant, the press was relentless, and the work rate never dropped. Furngate started the job in the first minute and continued to control the game right through to the 90th. Lee Henderson fully committed himself to the vets, showing exactly why having the man with the tash in our squad is so important! His commitment and attitude are exactly what this club is all about. At the back, Simon Aburrow made some excellent saves when called upon. The defensive unit was so solid that he was hardly troubled, but when Lewes did find a way through, Simon was there to deal with it. At times, it was like having a brick wall between the sticks! Kenny once again showed his class, while Agyeman controlled the wing, creating chances and giving the opposition plenty to think about. ?? THE BIG POSITIVES It's not just the six goals that stand out. The movement, the passing, the pressing, the defensive organisation and the togetherness were all there for everyone to see. This is a squad that is beginning to click, with players understanding their roles and buying into the style of football we want to play. There is quality throughout the team, competition for places, and a fantastic attitude from everyone involved. Two games played. Two wins secured. And plenty more to come! FULL-TIME: FURNGATE VETS 6–1 LEWES SELECT ?? 2 GAMES. 2 WINS. UP THE GATE!
