Goslign Youth Seniors FC Vs Goffs Oak Gremlins

Venue Viaduct, Digswell

First Half

The Gremlins second game playing together was a rather dissapointing one considering the Gremlins faced their first defeat this season in a friendly match againt St Margaretsbury FC. on the 5th.

The gremlins played a few new signings this summer which included centre midfielder Tim Christman, The Man of the match player Andrew Williams, Darren Rebeiro, Bobby Bartlett, Jack Chinn, and Lewis Sellers.

The game started off positive with alot of moving, and a few great early efforts from Darren Rebeiro and Bobby Bartlett one on one with the goalie, which saw the keeper save them every time.

The crowd all thought the Gremlins had this one on the bag, however it was not to be the Gremlins day.

A few more tackles from Andrew Williams saw the opponents get a few free kicks, but luckily on this pitch, they all went over the keeper and off for a goal kick.

In the absence of Martin Lloyd Tim Christman added some pace and strength in the middle and played a great part in setting up a few chances.

The pitch was a very short one, one, one so short you wouldn't believe it!

The first half the gremlins had the chances however after a bit of mis communication by the kepper, Parkes and defenders all got caught up and the ball was dropped into the net.

The half continued to be positive but no player could put the ball into the net.

Second Half

Tim Christan (OFF)   Kieron Cummines (ON)

Adam Staines (OFF)   Ryan Wallis  (ON)

Jamie Parkes GK (OFF)     Ian Edwards GK (ON)

The second half started and after a quick word, the team was changed around a bit, and started playing a bit more football, on the ground, and not in the air.

Theres not much to say about the opponents team other than they were an ok average team, who got the luck of the bounce and was luckily through on goal everytime, nothing the keeper could do.

Andrew Williams put in a few more tackles and set the strikers in through on goal, but it was just one of those days, it wasnt going to happen. Williams had his fair chances of shots at goal with good pace on the shots, which were all aimed straight at the goalie but overall his performance was a credit to the team.

Cummines come on at half time and really strengthened up the defence, staines took a rest and hendle pushed up the left wing where he too played really well.

Mark Humphry on the right added pace and good crosses into the box and linked up well with Chris Hiddlestone who had a good game too.

Bobby Bartlett started his debut today and had a really good game, a few good passes and attempts on goal can see him being a promising player this year for the gremlins! One to watch out for.

15 minutes from time see Jack Chinn on as centre back and Lewis Sellers come on as right back. They did really well and strengthened up the squad with the physical build and great players in the air.

All in all the players missing were: James Greenwood, Dan Humphry, Martin Lloyd, Kris Kane, John Turner, Ally Macgruer, Greg Bailey, Paul Mazza, Dan Surridge, Christian O'neill, Pat Hunt, these palyers were definitely missed and bring on the season we say!

The match was an end to end one however the pitch was too small for 11 players to be on the pitch.

Overall a game well played for set of lads down on numbers who have never played with eachother before.
