Goff’s Gremlins Vs The Spread Eagle

Gremlins Kick off

The gremlins go into this game in second place trailing by 4 goals on goal difference.

The game started off with Blake Nalder making his second start of the season only to go off after just one minute with a shoulder injury. Andrew Williams came on for Nalder.

The game started really well with the Gremlins playing some really simple but fancy football.

It was only after 10 minutes when the game saw its first goal with a great run from Left midfielder Christian O’ Neill attacking a Hendle cross which should have been the keepers, but got in front of the goal keeper to tap it past him and make it 1-0.

1-0   (10 mins, O Neill #7)

The game continued to be fast flowing with some really good football being played by the gremlins who dominated the first half.

Ian Edwards pulled off some great saves considering the weathers circumstances.

The second chance came from Andrew Williams when a great run from Striker Darren Rebeiro, passed from Martin Lloyd who played superbly today, down the wing, to take it past the goalkeeper to lay it across the box only for the ball to hit William’s standing leg. This should have made it 2-0.

A few chances from the spread eagle could have made it level if not for Adam Staines or Matt Humphry at the back controlling that excellent line.

Jamie Hendle had done his part in the game playing from left back to upfront in many occasions and created some great chances.

A very similar chance came again when the ball was laid across the box to Andrew Williams only for the keeper to get a touch to make it go off for a throw in.

The second goal was coming and there could only be one number running away celebrating when it did.

A great run down the line from Darren Rebeiro yet again passed from David Enright who also played brilliant today and kept it solid at the back, to take it past 2 defenders and pass it across the box for Andrew Williams to smash it through the goalkeepers legs and into the goal to make it 2-0 8 minutes before half time.

2-0   (37 mins, Williams #23)

The game continued to have its chances but none were put away before the half time mark.

Half time

Goff’s Gremlins FC 2 - 0 The Spread Eagle

Second half

The second half stayed the same for the first 10 minutes and the gremlin boys picked up where they left off.

The Gremlins were hungry for more when a silly Mistake from Darren Rebeiro who lost the ball mid pitch and should have passed to Williams or Morley, let a midfielder pass to his striker in on goal and nothing Edwards could do but watch it roll into the net.

(52 mins, Spread Eagle Fc 3-1)

The game continued to be fast flowing right from the off and with a few more chances that weren’t put away Humphry was forced to make a change.

Christian O’ Neill made way for Pat hunt and Hendle went off for Mark Humphry.

The ever waiting goal come early on when a simple pass from Pat Hunt after an extremely brilliant run let Paul Morley in on goal and tucked it past him in the bottom right hand corner to make it 3-1.

3-1   (49 mins, Morley #17)

Pat Hunt made an almost immediate impact on the game when a great run from him set up the third goal but also setting up the sixth to come later on.

The fourth goal come from a well timed run from Darren Rebeiro yet again to pass the ball to Andrew Williams who cleverly diverted his run from front post to back post to be the only player to calmly tap the ball into the net to make it 4-1

4-1 (68 mins, Williams #23)

The gremlins had a few corners but none better than the one Darren Rebeiro took which dropped past Hiddlestone only for him to latch onto the second attempt to make it bounce and roll into the net, which Andrew Williams followed into the goal and blast it into the net just to make sure.

Controversy over the goal claims it was Williams; however officials say Chris Hiddlestones shot had actually crossed the line before Williams smashed it in.

5-1 (77 mins, Hiddlestone #10)

The second spread eagle goal come from a well timed run from the midfielder who passed it back for one of the strikers to smash past the goalkeeper Edwards, again not to his fault.

5-2 (85 mins, # Spread Eagle FC)

To wrap the game up, none other than pat hunt on the left wing again put in a cross for Martin Lloyd to latch on with his head and put it past the goalkeeper to finish off the game and make it 6-2.

6-2 (88 mins, Lloyd #3)

The Gremlins dominated the game from start to finish.

They all attacked together and defended together, played the best football seen by any side viewers this year and a definite deserved 3 points in the bag .We look forward to being welcomed by SLM next week in the League Division Cup.

Good luck Gremlins, Keep it up!
