Back to midweek league action after our festival trophy win, and we were hoping to carry that good form back into the league.

We got on the front foot from the first whistle and it was wave after wave of High School attack, with Lucas looking really lively down the right wing.

We took the lead after around 20 minutes, and it was Lucas who got it. A long ball from Jay sent him driving into the box, and his powerful shot was too much for the keeper, who got a strong hand to it but couldn’t keep it out. 1-0.

We doubled our lead 10 minutes later when Lucas got to the byeline and cut it back for Dylan, but it looked like the goalkeeper got the final touch and turned it into his own net for an OG. 2-0.

Dylan then got himself on the scoresheet when a corner from Ashton dropped kindly after a touch from Bob. Dylan reacted quickest and smashed his shot in off the bar. Mure was there to make sure, but it looked like it had already crossed the line. 3-0.

Half time

We huffed and puffed at the start of the second half, but for all our pressure the St Mirren keeper was proving hard to beat. Sam, Kieran and Zack all went close, with Zack producing a particularly nice strike that was well saved.

Kieran eventually got his goal on 55 minutes with a typical Kieran-esque finish. Bob won the ball well and knocked it into Kieran just outside the area. He shifted it onto his left foot and fired high over the keeper. 4-0.

It was Ethan’s turn next. A great ball over the top from Lyle was met by Ethan with an excellent first-time volley with his right foot. Best goal of the night and a brilliant way to round off the scoring. 5-0.

A really strong performance overall, with the High School defence dealing comfortably with anything St Mirren had to offer, leaving Shammy with very little to do in goal. The majority of the play was in the St Mirren half.

Fair play to St Mirren, who never gave up and kept battling all game, but they just caught us on a really good night.

Brilliant performance tonight, especially in the first half. Very direct as always, had the beating of the full-back all game, kept getting to the byeline and putting dangerous balls into the box ????
