Home league match played on 17 September 2011.
Kicked off at 12:00 PM

After quite a number of the boys were involved in a easy win over the Blues in the summer league, thoughts of another easy win were dispelled as the Blues looked a much better challenge this time, and it needed a well taken last minute goal to rescue a point for the below par Jets.  Missing today was Ethan who was recovering from a sickness bug.

Making league debuts for Guide Post  today were Kieran, Ben, Joe & Dominic, so its maybe expecting too much to think the boys will play well together as a team straight away.  At times the passing was excellent, certainly lots of promise for the future.  In the first half the Jets were the stronger side with Kieran only being called into the action once, making a fine save at the near post.

At the other end Josh started well and went close, while Ben amd Dylan also put efforts just wide of the post. Introduction of Dom as sub got a deserved goal, with his first touch Dom put Ben through who this time made no mistake firing the ball home.  1-0 at the break.

Second half started much the same with the Jets on top, with Ben again going just wide with his shooting, not being able to kill the game off gave the battling blues the desire to get more into the game, and a fine move got them a goal, our defenders were not helped when a ball from a Tynemouth team warming up came on to the pitch at the same time, but the referee thought this was ok and allowed the goal.  Blues now looked the stronger side as we lost our way in midfield, and they were certainly helped by baffling decision after baffling decision by a referee who Guide Post have never won under.  Coaches from both sides were equally confused when he gave about the fourth free kick on the edge of our box, and this was hit spectacularly in to the top corner.  This was a body blow to the Jets, but they were deteminded to get back into the game, Ben and Dylan going close, while a shout from Dylan for a penalty when the keeper appeared to knee Dylan were waved away from the referee.  Time looked to have run out, when I think it was Dylan put in the corner, and this fell to edge of the area for Joseph to hit accurately and with power to rescue a point.  The whistle being blown seconds later.

Potential is there, and once the boys get a few games under their belts sure they will prove to be a very strong side. For man of the match, thought we looked generally comfortable at the back with Joe & Joseph composed on the ball and always looking to pass nicely from the back, while up front Ben, worked really hard and on another day with ball going the right side of the post could have had three or four, while Dylan, Josh, Kyle and Dom all showed glimpses of their ability.  While Kieran had a quiet game apart from one very good save. Just edging it with a great last minute strike for me to back up a good display at the back was Joseph.

Lets work hard at training, keep our passing game going, and go again next week when we face Tynemouth Reds this time.
