Away friendly match played on 12 December 2010.
Kicked off at 12:00 AM

In an evenly contested friendly, we just came out on top, thanks to John for bringing his Eagles across for a quickly arranged game.

First Quarter - Aaron, Harry, Sam, Josh, Elliott, Joseph, Dylan

This quarter we saw some of the best passing football ever from the boys, it was a joy to watch, and just showed what we are capable of! Only an inspired Eagles keeper and the ball just going wide kept the score down, as we dominated possession.  Midfield of Joseph, Josh & Elliott combined excellently through out, while Dylan played striker role well laying off lots of good balls. At the back Harry & Sam, didn't put a foot wrong, Aaron only having one save to make.

First minute and a goal, Joseph took the ball on the right had a good long range shot which the keeper could only parry and Dylan was in the right place to calmly tap the ball into net. Dylan had a shot saved on 2 mins, Elliott just wide on 6, followed by long shot from Josh, two minutes later and a wonder save kept Josh's shot out after lovely passing. Dylan & Elliott again just went wide, and Elliott again forced a good save on 11 minutes. Ellington had a good shot saved on 5 minutes.  1-0 End of First.

Second Quarter - Aaron James Sam Josh Elliott Joseph Dylan

Started the quarter well, Josephs volley deflected for a corner, we took it short and Elliott got a great shot away, and with the keeper beaten it just went wide of the post. Josh, Elliott & Dylan all had some half chances, before Eages got back on level terms, the impressive striker getting a wonder strike away, which Aaron made a great attempt to keep out, but just couldnt quite do so. Eagles were now much more in the game, as our two wide midfielders tired a little. At the end of the quarter we did have chance to take the lead, a penalty after the Eagles defender handled on the ground.  Dylans well directed, and powerful spot kick was excellently saved by the impressive Eagles keeper.  James made some excellent clearances and tackles in this quarter, well backed up by Sam & Aaron.

Third Quarter - Aaron James Harry Joseph Sam Bradley, Dane - Elliott on for Joseph. Due to Dylan & Elliott not listening at the team talk it was a much changed line up for the third, Sam fitting nicely into central midfield.  We struggled a bit to get into the game, but all the boys did battle hard, and it was a rare break down in communications that gave the Eagles the chance to take the lead. James & Aaron think left it for each other and the ever alert Eagles player, didnt need a second invitation to come in and finish really well.  Dane up front had a few good runs, but couldnt beat the Eagles defenders. End of 3d 2-1 Eagles.

Fourth Quarter - Aaron Sam Harry Dane Elliott Josh Dylan - Sub Joseph on for Dylan 1/2 way through. -

Our passing got going again in this quarter, and it was now end to end stuff, Aaron had to make two superb saves in this quarter, while at the other end, we were a threat most of the time, Joseph, Josh & Elliott all going close in the quarter after good passing football.  Our second goal came after Josh put in lovely through ball for Elliott who took his time and drilled the ball into the corner of the net, giving the Eagles keeper no chance. Dane who worked really hard got his reward at a corner, Elliott put in a super cross and Dane attacked the ball with his head powerfully sending the ball past the keeper. Great goal boys.  Sam & Harry at the back kept the Eagles at bay. Final score 3-2.

Really pleasing game for the boys, plenty of positives. Aaron super saves, Harry strong as ever, James back to good form, Josh fantastic passing and shooting, Elliott great running and tackling, Joseph plenty of energy good display, Bradley full quarter worked hard, Dylan nice finish good passing - Dane after slow start very good last quarter and super goal. Man of match for me though was Sam, superb at the back, and very good in centre midfield when asked to play there, well done Sam.

Good win boys.

Training Tuesday St Benet Biscop 6pm.
