Away league match played on 28 September 2008.
Kicked off at 12:30 PM

A morale boosting and well deserved victory for the team. GuidePost started very strongly scoring after just 3 minutes with a well worked move down the left flank involving Callum and George who crossed for Reece Brown to score at close range.

This was followed within two minutes by Reece Brown pouncing on a rebound from Ryan's long range shot which came back off the bar.

GuidePost were dominant and spreading the ball wide down both flanks to create plenty of chances to score.

After 13 minutes George suddenly burst into life winning a 50/50 ball just inside the Guide Post half before going on a run down the left, turning his defender and cutting onto his right foot just outside the box. Then a sweetly struck right foot shot into the top corner left the keeper standing. The crowd went wild !!

Reece Brown then completed a 15 minute hat trick by nodding in a corner in a crowded penalty box. Again the rowd went wild (except John his dad who had promised Reece a reward for each goal he scored - ooh costly!!)

Apart from a couple of excellent individual breakaways by Corbridge which brought Luke into making good saves, the game was one way at this stage. On 20 minutes George got his second goal after three quick fire shots from a tight angle.

The Corbridge goalie was playing well and kept out a few decent shots in the first half. Ryan again struck the woodwork after 25 minutes with another long range strike but his luck wasn't in today.

With the score 5 - 0 at half time Liam Halliday took over from Luke in goal and further changes were made. Lee and Connor had started as full back and both had performed very well. Jack came on for Lee and again showed how much progress he is making with another solid performance. Andrew was yet again solid at the back with Adam who was suffering from what seems like a possible long term ankle problem (let's hope he recovers quickly !!). Reece Bosomworth's crosses from the right were yet again causing the opposition plenty of trouble. Brad was battling away well up front (despite the 'encouragement' from his Grandad !) Aaron showed that he has a sweet left foot when he came on putting in a number of great crosses and with two excellent strikes on goal.

After 56 minutes Reece Brown compounded the hole in his dad's wallet by scoring his fourth. Again good wide play down the left followed by an unselfish lay off by Ryan into the path of Reece who stroked the ball side footed from 25 yards past the goalie.

Liam Halliday was called into action a couple of times as he showed confidence in coming out and clearing through balls behind the defence.

On 60 minutes Corbridge got their reward for some good work with a well taken direct free kick from outside the box which looped high over Liam into the far corner. There was little that Liam could have done to keep it out.

GuidePost had some great chances for more goals including Ryan one on one with the keeper who pulled off a great save (although the ball did seem to just cross the line !) and Luke who had moved up front who got on the end of a great cross from the left which he volleyed just wide.

At the end of the game Reece Brown was rightfully awarded Man of the Match for his four goals and his overall excellent performance.

All the boys played well and the football was of high quality at times with some great flowing moves. Well done everyone !!
