BRILLIANT BRAD SEALS WELL DESERVED VICTORY WITH LATE HEADER.

(Note Please this report will be brief - I've just wasted 80 minutes typing the first version which didn't save !!!! AAAAAAAAAAAARGH !!!!!!!) Lets get to the point ! A great performance of stylish passing football, determination and team spirit lead to a 4 - 2 victory which was nothing more than all the boys deserved.

Any worries about being without Luke and Connor through injury were quickly dispelled when the Guide Post 'juggernaut' with captain Reece Brown at the steering wheel powered through the first half to a convincing 3 - 0 lead. Stylish almost Brazilian 'sunshine style' football warmed the hearts of the gathered masses (42 humans and one large dog - Well most of them seemed human although there were a few funny looking people on the far side of the pitch - you know who you are !)

An early goal from the classy Ross Moore steadied the ship as he ran onto a neat through ball from Aaron who was having another of those games where things were just going right. George added a second with what seemed like a great strike low into the corner but what was in fact a great rebound/charge down low and into the corner. Then just before half time Ryan Young made it 3-0 but I was so excited that I can't really remember the goal well enough to describe it - so I'll just make this up and call it a forty seven yard screamer !!!!!!

The Guide Post defence was strengthened by the return of the mighty Jack Taylor (who not only swims like a fish, plays rugby like a bear, but now also boxes like a kangaroo! Does the boy never relax and kill aliens on his computer like any normal healthy child ?) Playing with Andrew and Jack at centre half and the impressive Adam and Ryan as wing backs the Guide Post defence was an impenetrable wall in the first half - backed up by Liam Halliday making a deserved start in nets.

With five in midfield Guide Post were dominant - Reece, Ross and Callum in the middle were breaking up Northburn attacks and linking well with the wingers Reece and Aaron who were having a field day. George lead the line alone and did a great job.

The second half is a bit of a blur. Northburn got a goal back (can't remember it ) then they got a goalmouth scrambled goal to make it 3 - 2. Ryan got what seems a nasty knock in a brave last ditch diving attempt to prevent the goal. He left the field cradled by John like a 5'7" tall bambino (John now regrets this as the waiting list for hernia operations is six months long in Wansbeck). Thanks to some generous treatment and attention by the Northburn assistant coach Ryan was gingerly walking again before the end of the game - fingers crossed it's not too serious.

The last ten minutes were nerve wracking !! Both sides were going all out for the win. A twenty yard goalbound strike from the Northburn brought oooohs from the crowd but was well dealt with by Liam. With two minutes to go another fine flowing move down the right saw Reece Bosomworth deliver a pinpoint cross into the six yard area for Brad who arrived with the perfect timing normally associated with the X43 bus from Ashington to Newcastle - Back to the point - Brad timed his run perfectly and leapt above the defence (artistic licence again !!) to drill a perfect header into the back of the net! Brads number one supporter - his grandad Brian - was so overcome with joy that his eyes started watering and he was heard to mutter "Get in you little s#!t" And there it ended - HOWAY THE LADS !! A great team display by all the boys.
