Guildford City Pumas took on Staines Lammas Lions in the League cup.

The Lions, pushing for the top of Division 1, were a tough opponent
for the Division 2 Pumas side but the lads were not intimidated by all
the Barcolona-esq warm ups and for the first few minutes matched them
pass for pass. However a fluid Lions team move gave them a 1 on 1 that
Liam did well to get a hand on, but unfortunately the shot snuck in
under the post. The lads refused to let their heads drop and the next
13 minutes contained exciting attacking and defending by the Pumas
with Benny, Sean and T getting in some great tackles. A superb long
shot by Sammy was parried and held by the lions keeper, which may have
crossed the line but wasn't given. Then after another great run on the
right by Sammy, flighting in a cross that arrived at Harry's feet who
calmly and intelligently passed to Lucca to score. Half time 1-1. The
second half led to a scramble after 2 minutes and the Lions were in
front for the second time. Again the lads refused to give up and two
minutes later a pass to the edge of the box from Lucca to Sammy, led
to some great "Argie Bargey" as Sammy went round 1, held off two and
got his shot away. 2-2. Game on. Chances for both teams arrived thick
and fast with both keepers ensuring the stalemate continued. With 2
minutes to go a run on the wing with the resultant cross led to
another scramble and the ball was poked away to give the lions the
lead again. With this the Lions coach made 4 substitutes over the last
2 minutes to kill the game off and give the Lions the win.

Even though this was a loss the whole team came off with their heads
held high. Every single player gave their all and played the best
football of the season so far. It all bodes so well for the coming
weeks, that just cant come around quickly enough. As the title says "The lads done good"

Appologies for the poor quality vids and pics this week.
