You can't always win pretty!

Heddon St Andrews made it three from three with a 5-1 victory over Bellingham to keep their spot at the top of the league!

The game wasn't without difficulty for Heddon as they really struggled to get going from the start. An injury to the Bellingham centre half early causing a ten minute delay didnt help witht he flow of the game early.

A hat-trick from man of the match Dan Walker and one each for Mark Richardson and Michael Connelly wrapped up the three points. 3 cracking finishes from Dan, one from a lovely move with Sean Hownam who is on fire this season (if he had a right foot he would be top goal scorer!) whilst Scoobs is winning the battle of the centre halfs goal scoring! We look very dangerous from set plays with our size and quality of delivery causing every team we play some serious headaches.

A rare goalkeeping mishap from David Wadds seen Heddon concede their first goal of the season. Waddsy coming out sweeping well miskicked a clearance stright to a Bellingham player, who finished first time on the volley. That was a shame as it we handled the Bellingham attacks really well - lets get back to clean sheets when we play Blue Star!

There were spells when the ball was on the deck that Heddon looked their usual selves however a lot of work still needs to be done ahead of the big cup game in two weeks!

As was the case last week, when the ball was on the floor and going through midfield some of the stuff we play is superb.

It was confirmed on Monday that Dan and Murta are currently joint top goalscorers in the league with 5 each - not bad giving that both have missed a game each!

Its a sign of our high standards that we win 5-1 and are not 100% happy.

Well done lad's - enjoy the week off before a tough game against Blue Star on the 4th October in the minor cup.

Howay the Heed!
