Heddon St Andrews through to Clayton Cup Final!

In a week of terrible PR for the club Heddon St Andrews sealed their spot in the cup final with a 3-3 draw with Prudhoe YCFC.

The game however didn’t go to plan for Dave Greens men. A disgusting first 40 minutes saw Heddon come in 2-0 at half time. A half time team talk similar to that of Mike Bassett when England played Mexico revitalised a tired looking Heddon side… fortunately we didn’t go on to lose 4-1.

The second half started better and Heddon grew into the game with Connor Ballantyne silencing his critics from the first half with a commanding display which apparently earned him a call up to the All Star team! MOTM for the second game running was Jonathon Woods who also earned his place in the All Star team.

*cough* Another *cough* brace from Daniel Walker pulled Heddon back to level terms before Prudhoe scored again to make it 3-2. Influential midfielder Sean Hownam grabbed an equaliser late on to send Heddon through.

Now to the shootout – No pressure!

Heddon 4-3 Prudhoe. GK David Wadds again the hero in the shootout all that extra studying paid off for the man who when asked to play for the All Star team absolutely custard pied Max Clifford.

Rumour has it that there has been a late call up to the All Star team for 6 goal (2 pens in shootouts) hitman Daniel Walker after he quite literally through his toys, dummy and size 10.5 adidas predators at the selectors. I for one think the big lad deserves his call up.

Onwards and upwards for Heddon who have put conifer-gate behind them. Gentle reminder to all those with hanging baskets, shrubs and all deciduous greenery it is the team night out on the 1/8/15 (Not for Tom Watson’s birthday) so be warned in the words of club captain Dan Ramshaw “How can I stop a 6ft odd 23 year old man from pulling trees out of a pot!”

Howay the Heed!
