Home league match played on 18 September 2010.
Kicked off at 11:15 AM

The second game of the day was now going be more important than ever. A  rousting teamtalk was needed and the team went on the pitch all fired up.

Straight from the off Heyside were giving Withington problems all over and within five minutes the deadlock was broken. Hayden Smith picked up the ball just outside the area, he looked up and and found Luke Casey in space..he jinked himself away from the Withington Defender and chipped it into the path of Josh King who hit an unstoppble shot into the top corner of the net. If Gary Linekar was watching this he would surely have said that this was contender for goal of the season !!!. 1-0.

Heyside were now in total control and the passing and movement was a joy to watch..waves upon waves of attacks came..Adam Ford was really unselfish up front, holding the ball up and then passing it off to his midfield team mates.

The second goal came from a lovely intricate move which was started by the the defenders Anthony Hewitt and Liam Brown...one touch passing betweem Adam Ford Hayden Smith and Josh Parker and ball came to Luke Casey who with pinpoint accuracy slotted the ball in the bottom corner. 2-0.

Within a minute it was three...again Heyside carved Withington open with some smart play and Josh Parker finished the move off in style with a low shot under the keeper. 3-0.

Half Time Score - Heyside Juniors A 3 Withington Rangers A 0.

It was same again from the restart with so much possesion, Heyside were slicing up the Withington defence and a wave of corners came...and so did the fourth goal.

Josh Parker whipped in a corner with tremendous pace and there at the back post was Hayden Smith with a brave bullet of a header giving the keeper absolute no chance.4-0.

Withington then change their formation to get something out of this game and it paid off. A free kick came in from twenty yards out missing all the Heyside Defenders, and a scuffed shot bounced over Harry Allens despairing gloves. 4-1.

Within minutes panick set in and another goal to Withington came from a mix up at the back leaving the striker all alone ten yards out to wallop the ball into the roof of the net. 4-2.

Harry Allen then made a string of fine saves and it was as if Heyside had just took their foot of the gas. Adam Ford was sent on to provide a screen in the midfield and this then stemmed any more attacks from Withington. Gaps started to appear and Heyside started to send some great through balls which created more opportunities and corners..and it was a corner that the fifth goal came and wrapped the game up. Josh Parker curled in a wicked corner that bent in underneath the goalkeepers arms. 5-2.

Full Time Score - Heyside Juniors A 5 Withington Rangers A 2.

Another fantastic performance from all the lads, hopefully they will have learned that for all their hard work it has now started to pay off.

M.O.T.M. - Antony Hewitt.
