  Cracker-Jack!!!

The Heyside team made it two wins out of two with a tremendous 3-1 victory over an impressive Mossley side.

Mossley started the better of the teams enjoying a lot of possession and passing the ball really well but they found it difficult to create clear cut chances due to excellent defending from defensive duo Joel and Lennon. They did get sight of goal eventually though and a well struck shot from outside the area produced a fabulous save from George in the Heyside goal.

Jack was all over the field and was well backed up by hardworking displays from Matty, Louis, Ryan and sub Jake as the boys fought to get on top. Right on half time a great through ball from Matty saw Louis surge into the Mossley penalty box and drill the ball home to put the Heyside team into the lead. A great time to score as almost immediately from the restart the referee brought the half to a close.

The second half got under way with Jack taking a well earned rest as Mossley battled hard to get back on level terms. At one stage the boys had to hold out against a succession of well taken corners and you felt then that if Mossley equalised they could go on to win the game.

But hard graft paid off for the Heyside team as they competed for every ball and passed the ball better as the half wore on. Jack put over some great crosses from corners and Louis was again on the spot to volley home and put his side into a 2-0 lead. Mossley again came fighting back and scored from close range after George had made a good save from a well hit shot.

The game was finally made safe as Jack scored a fantastic solo goal winning the ball on the half way line and storming forward to smash the ball home and seal the points for the Heyside team.

MOM: A great effort from everyone again today – 2 goal Louis deserves great credit for his performance but Jack just shaded the award today after his all action display. Joel and Lennon again impressed at the back and Matty followed on from last week with another great effort up front. George made 1 crucial save and Ryan and Jake both played their part in a fine victory. Word from the Mossley coach was that they had played the A team so if that was the case then that made the victory even better.
