Home friendly match played on 18 October 2014.
Kicked off at 5:00 PM

A good turn out with 17 player, 2 non-playing committee members, and even a home spectator with boots. Incepcion started the game with a attacking 4-4-2 formation with Sherman in goal and Loy/Yew Boon heading the attack. The first 15 minutes were jitterry with the defence often having miscommunication issues resulting with Sherman saving several one on ones. The goal finally got breached with yet another simlar incident with Clarence not able to track back in time and Sherman couldnt keep it out. We started to play a little better after several substitutions notably with Henry coming on and making his tradmark energetic charges which one of them leading to shot being taken hitting the opponents arm. Penalty. Up stepped the captain of the day Loy. Somehow, he missed and wacked the rebound onto the post trying to crack it. Could it be a virus we brought back from BKK with Jensen?

Second half starter brightly as we ended the first half. A flurry of corners were forced with some good play. Richard was guilty of a miss after good work being put onto a good position to shoot. There was evn a goal mouth melee which somehow the ball wouldnt go in. Their second goal was scored when our defenders and midfielders were not reactive and a free header resulted in their second goal. Final score, 2-0.

Couple of things to bring back from this game..Football is a team game where we all play and support each other. Simple play, pass to feet, move and support your team mates, ask for ball, cover. These are all basic things we should all be familiar with at this stage of our game. "A good player is one who does not lose the ball often" Read this somewhere and thought to share with you all here. Lose a ball and dont make an effort to track back and cover..not really acceptable. Cannot also do some side show to run la :) Second thing to note here is very positive. Right from our captain who led by example. During the half time, he was the first to put his hands up blaming himself and admit his mistake of that weak shot instead of blaming anything else like wind or ball being out of shape. Something some of us are gulity of and that includes me at times. Mistakes we all make and realising them, admitting them and try to rectify them only improves our game techinically and most importanly, socially. Ironically, we all had a good time especially Loy during our regular after game drinks learning how to score penalties and critically how not to miss them in the Man C vs Spurs game.

This week's MOM goes to Patrick. Why? HE played way above his capabilities. First in midfield and then slotting seemlessly into central defence. He was visably tired and asked to be substituted. The manager screwed up and forgot to do this particular substitution :) Congrats Pat.

This week I am introducing something new just for laughs among ourselves and no malise intended. This will be a quote "Blooper of the Week" with no names mentioned and will let your imagination run wild wondering who this might be. I will start for the first week and subsequent weeks, you all can can give me your suggestions in the official club chat.

This week's Blooper quote - "Pussy Penalty"

See you all this Saturday.

Cheers,

SK
