Home friendly match played on 05 October 2019.
Kicked off at 5:00 PM

Manager mentioned to me again on the way to the game that we remained undefeated on grass and guess what, we ARE playing on grass again this week. Damai Secondary for the 2nd week in a row, maybe because nobody wants to play there. Opponents were really a veterans team. Well done Ron. But they took their own sweet time to stroll in to start preparing. We had our usual big squad and were all ready in the hot sun to start off.

The game kicked off and we were well in the ascendancy. Max was pulling the strings in midfield while the rest of us were struggling to keep up with him. He unleashed a pass to Stuart (he shouted for him) but Stuart was still in bed and hence, Pat went after it. He somehow got to it and scored. Then this time, another ball from Max did reached Stuart after the keeper fluffed at it and he walked it into an empty net. Next up, the Captain intercepted a pass from defence and waltzed through the middle to miscue his left footed shot into goal. Totally against the run of play, the opponents picked up a through ball in the middle and went past SK in goal for their 1st goal. That didn't stop us from continuing our momentum. A long ball from SK somehow missed everyone, reached Yiong, who did an acrobatic overhead volley to score. Actually, I missed it as I was blocked by Pat and hence imagined that Yiong scored that way. 1st third score 4-1. Yes, we played 30 minutes and we scored 4. Interesting.

2nd Third started and we continued the good performance, albeit against a tiring opponent. Henry lobbed a nice through ball for Pat, who swung his leg at it and went in. Stuart then scored the goal of the game when he picked up a through ball from Max, danced around 3 players, pirouetted one time and beat the keeper at the far post. Colin then got in the act. He first dispatched a penalty, earned by Clarence. He was lucky as the ball just slipped under the keeper. He then scored his second from a delicious cross from Harold. Harold was trying hard to teach Pat a thing or two while he watched intently from the sidelines. Max then added another goal after he intercepted a ball and lobbed it over the keeper from 25 yards. I lost count, how many is it now?

Final Third and we had more chances but we could only score one more as Colin got his hat-trick from another cross of Harold. The opponents then scored one as well for their consolation. That was when Colin decided to take over as keeper and stuck SK upfront. To our surprise, Colin's handling was not too bad, catching the ball pretty well several times. Meanwhile, SK was the total opposite. He had a great chance to score when put through but faced with the keeper and a few yards from goal, he actually managed to sky the ball. It actually made the sky turn dark with laughter and referee decided to blow for time as he also couldn't take it. Final score 10-2. The biggest win of the season and it's been a while since we scored so many.

Good preparation for the start of the league next week as we romped to victory easily. But let's not be complacent and work even harder for the league.
