Away league match played on 22 March 2009.
Kicked off at 10:30 AM

The fact that Old Wimbledonians had not won a point all season made me feel good & bad. The good part was that we should win this game. The bad part was they will get some points somewhere but please not today.
The good news won through with a performance & a clean sheet, brilliant!!!
The match started with Kingsboro clearly in control of the game with quite a large chunk of the possession. This led to a few close chances following some really good movement on and off the ball. It was also very pleasing to hear players calling for the ball, as the game is so much easier when a team does this.
The first goal came from some good work down the right wing and after Ryan Butt going close Symon Wright finished from close range for 1-0. This then led to pressure telling on the opposition as the next two goals came very close together with Tony Nathan’s header getting a very large deflection and an own goal from Ross’s cross that Ryan was waiting to tap in.
The fourth goal soon followed after a great through ball by Symon with Ross finishing superbly. Ryan rounded off the half’s scoring with a well taken goal, taking Tony’s shot come cross in his path and rounding the goalkeeper with ease.
So 5-0 up at half time and with a very solid performance from the defence with no mistakes all good going into the second half. This was also how it would stay as four goals followed in the second half including a fantastic right-footed drive from Ross Deegan made up for his slightly fortunate second goal that trickled through the goalkeeper’s legs. 24 for the season now for Ross! A Pasquale Guadango special off a knee from a Trevor Allan cross, that’s two in two games for super sub Paz. A brilliant run and header by Symon Wright from a James Andy corner made it nine.
This was an impressive performance by all concerned with a very brave save by Ian Humphries which has unfortunately left him out for the last few weeks of the season. It was great to see Dave Rugg take his chance well and put in a good turn at right back. The fact that Tony & Nathan were playing left back threw up no problems even though it's not his comfortable side. The two central defenders did an excellent job of shutting out any threat created by the opposition. The central midfield pairing was as dependable as ever with some fantastic late runs into the box from Ryan Butt and some fantastic coverage by Ben Illingworth. The wing play was very good with James Andy having another excellent game and Joe O'Brien doing some great work on the left. Then I come to front two who were nothing short of outstanding as they both had faultless games. Then lastly the subs, with now milking the knee injury we have Ian Rugg, Pasquale Guadango & Trevor Allan who all came on and did well. Then lastly thanks to Daniel Tune who even though not being available for selection has come down the last two weeks to show moral support and been a very good linesman.
This was exactly what was called for with recent results not going our way. I hope this result again reminds everyone of how good we can be if the full squad is available every week for selection.
