Labyrinth Football Club hosted Marikana Galaxy at Dinie Estate Rustenburg on 22 February 2026, with kick-off at 3:30pm in a league home fixture. The match ended in a heavy 5-1 defeat for Labyrinth FC, who struggled to contain their visitors throughout the 90 minutes plus added time.

Labyrinth lined up in a traditional 4-4-2 formation, deploying Ratoolo Pogisho in goal. The defensive line consisted of Ofentse Monau at right back, Karabo Molekwa and Bruno Mokgosi as central defenders, and Kwazinkosi Sibanda on the left. Across midfield, Mogorosi Katane operated on the right wing, with Rebaone Molekwa and Rapula Malusi occupying the central midfield roles, while the left midfield position was unrecorded. Up front, Prince Moemi led the attack from the right forward position alongside Kร mogelo Mogotsi on the left. Pule Phosisi was named among the substitutes.

The 4-4-2 setup was expected to provide balance between defence and attack, with the full-backs supporting wide play and the central midfielders tasked with controlling the tempo and linking play. The forwards were to spearhead the offensive efforts, looking to capitalise on chances created by the midfield.

The visitors opened the scoring in the 23rd minute, breaking the deadlock and setting the tone for the remainder of the first half. Despite efforts from Labyrinth, the score remained 1-0 at the interval.

At half-time, Labyrinth made an immediate tactical substitution, replacing right midfielder Mogorosi Katane with Pule Phosisi in an attempt to inject fresh impetus into their play.

The second half saw further frustration for Labyrinth as left defender Kwazinkosi Sibanda received a yellow card in the 56th minute for dissent, reflecting the mounting pressure on the home side.

Marikana Galaxy doubled their advantage just three minutes later, extending their lead to 2-0. Labyrinth responded with a moment of quality when Rapula Malusi pulled a goal back in the 69th minute, offering a glimmer of hope to the home fans.

However, this was swiftly extinguished as Marikana Galaxy restored their two-goal cushion in the 71st minute. The visitors continued to dominate, adding two more goals in the 82nd and 86th minutes to seal a comprehensive 5-1 victory.

Throughout the match, Bruno Mokgosi stood out for Labyrinth Football Club, earning the player of the match accolade for his efforts in central defence despite the heavy defeat.

Refereeing was impeccable, with the official receiving a perfect performance rating, ensuring the game was conducted fairly and smoothly.

Labyrinth FC will need to regroup quickly after this difficult result as they look to bounce back in their upcoming fixtures.
