Away cup match played on 12 October 2013.
Kicked off at 3:00 PM

The Wanderers embarked on a second cup tie away from home on the trot as they made the relatively short trip along the coast to Brighton Premier division side Ovingdean in the second round of the Sussex Intermediate Challenge Cup. Manager Dave Shearing was forced to shuffle his pack from those on duty the previous week at Clymping. Leigh Sherwood made his first appearance of the season between the sticks in place of the unavailable Adam Sargent. There were also first starts of the season for Michael Racher at right back and Rikki Prodger partnered Paul Rogers in attack fresh from his hatrick for the reserves the previous week. Tony Russell also returned after illness. The Wanderers were shocked within the first 60 second when the referee adjudged Kyle Fenerron to have handled in the box, and the Dean players calmly slotted the ball past Sherwood to give the hosts an early lead. That stirred the visitors into action and a flowing move involving Racher & Rogers it culminated in Terry Payne sweeping home from close range to bring the scores level on 7 mins. It took the Wanderers only another 4 minutes before they edged in front, a half cleared corner was acrobatically volley home by Steve Hickman, a centre half by trade but a forwards finish. Despite not playing there most fluent football of the season the Wanderers were will in control of proceedings, and added goals 3 & 4 just before half time thanks to Prodger and leading scorer Shane Saunders. The second half followed the same pattern as the first half and it was Saunders and Prodger again who opened the scoring at the start of the second half to make it 6-1 after an hour. The Dean rallied however and pulled 2 goals back with 15 mins remaining the first a penalty following a foul by Adam Byrne the second following sloppy defending. This stung the Wanderers into life again, and Prodger completed his hatrick with a stunning strike and substitute Ben Saber completed the scoring on 88 mins slamming home following good work by Saunders. There was also a late appearance as sub by 16 year old Jack Murphy who has impressed for the reserves so far this season. By know means a complete performance, but being in the next round was the most important thing, and an away tie at Eastbourne Town Reserves awaits in the third round, a game not to be missed. Sherwood, Racher, Fenerron, Byrne, Hickman, Russell (Morgan), Saunders, DeGaudo, Rogers (Murphy). Prodger, Payne (Saber)
