Away league match played on 06 May 2012.
Kicked off at 3:00 PM

Hook Norton 0 Launton Boys 7

The day we'd all been waiting for finally arrived. We knew we had to win the game to win the League. We had a bit of an advantage with Hook Norton only managing to field ten men.

The opening minutes of the game saw a bit of a midfield battle with both teams trying to get the upper hand. Our nerves were calmed after 9 minutes when an excellent corner from Simon was headed in by man of the match Dan Stevens. A few minutes later we doubled our lead with the same combination, Simons corner Dans finish. We were by now controlling the game and on 22 minutes a free kick from Zaz was chased by Max who forced the goalie into a mistake before firing into an empty net. In the first half the hosts had a few chances of their own forcing George to make a couple of smart saves. On the other occasions that they attacked us our back four of the excellent Fred, Dan Stillgoe, Jay and Joe were all on top form. Half time came with us leading 3-0.

At the break we replaced the impressive Jordan with Ben.  6 minutes into the half we increased our lead when another excellent corner from Simon deceived everyone and sailed straight in. A minute later we scored what was probably the goal of the game. The ball started with Fred at right back he passed to Ben who then passed to Zaz, Zaz spotted the run of Simon in the inside left position and found him with an excellent ball between 2 defenders. Simon took the ball in his stride and smashed his shot inside the far post. Brilliant goal.

We were by now totally dominating the game with some excellent passing moves involving virtually the whole team but in particular Zaz, Dan Stevens, Simon and supporters man of the match Miguel whose fast feet and trickery caused the home team all sorts of problems.

Our next goal came after 51 minutes when Simon completed a well deserved and amazing hat-trick. To score one goal in a game straight from a corner is unusual but i've never heard of anyone doing it twice, unbelievable. Just after this Marco was really unlucky a couple of times not to get on the scoresheet with two efforts just going wide.

The scoring was wrapped up 3 minutes from time when yet another corner from Simon was headed home by Jordan, the most vertically challenged member of our squad ! !( sorry Jordan). Soon after this the final whistle blew which signalled scenes of wild celebrations which continued when we got back to Launton and will start again on Saturday at presentation night.

Boys to win the league really is a fantastic acchievment and to win it by winning our last 9 league games in a row having never been top of the league all season is truly amazing.

You've all been a great credit to yourselves and should all be really proud of yourselves as we all our of you.

MASSIVE CONGRATULATIONS TO YOU ALL
