Away league match played on 17 April 2010.
Kicked off at 10:30 AM

We arrived at Horton view on a warm sunny Saturday morning to play Banbury United for our last game of the season.

The start of the game saw us quickley into our stride with Ben B and Supporters Man Of The Match George K competing well in the middle of midfield to get the ball out wide for Marco and Ben J to make some good runs down the wings which created a few half chances for Miguel and Dan upfront. Ben J produced one great run inparticular  when he received the ball on the half-way line and raced to the goal line before seeing his cross cleared for a corner.

Banbury then began to make some attacks of their own but found our back four of Jake, Jay, Joe and especially Man Of The Match Freddie, in great form. After fifteen minutes we replaced Marco with Joel who quickly got into the game with a couple of long range shots.

The game was now becoming much more end to end with both teams seeing chances come and go, however it was Banbury who had the best chance of the half when, from a goalmouth scramble, the Referee spotted a trip and awarded the hosts a penalty. From the kick George R flung himself to the right to pull off a great save. This ensured the game reached half-time with the score still 0-0.

At the break we replaced Dan with Marco and pushed Joel upfront. This paid off just a minute into the half when Ben J produced another great run down the right. This time his cross found Joel who took a touch before shooting home.

Both teams continued to swap attacks and from a Banbury attack on 44 minutes Freddie made another great tackle and passed to Joel who found Miguel. Miguel then raced into the box and smashed his shot just inside the far post.

Just after this we replaced the tiring Ben J, who'd had a great game, with Dan. With seven minutes left Banbury pulled a goal back which led to a nervy ending, especially as the referee added on about five minutes of injury time. Despite this we held firm with some great defending to give us a deserved win.

So, once again, a MASSIVE WELL DONE to all the boys not just for yesterday but for the whole season. All of you have really come on well as a team and i'm really proud of you all. WELL DONE.

I also want to thank Dave and Paul for their invaluable assistance and ALL of the parents for all of your help and support over this and previous seasons. Special mention has to go to Wes for being the best ref in the league and to Denise whose been the driving force behind running the snack bar. Also to Phil and Laurie for their more than generous sponsorship. Thank-you all it truly is appreciated and has made my life much easier.

Don' forget presentation night. 15th May, Launton Sports and Social Club, 7.30. It would be nice if all the boys could wear their polo shirts again.
