Home cup match played on 22 October 2011.
Kicked off at 2:00 PM

30 minutes extra time played.

The scene was set for County Cup with a home draw against Monkswell Abbey, the team warmed up in true Mexoc style with a pre match egg and spoon race. Eggxactly what the team needed to calm the nerves for the County Cup First Round.

The teams lined up with Paul “REG” Reagan having the hard effort of marking what can only be described as the love child of Cameron Jerome and Kenwyne Jones. Tony Pulis has already shown interest and looks certain to add him to the squad in the January transfer window

Mexoc kicked off with the wind in there faces with Monskwell taking the lead after a controversial opening goal with a did it didn’t it cross the line situation with the ref claiming the ball SCAMBLED over the line, the morning papers will be calling for the use of video goal line technology once again.

Monskwell soon doubled the lead with a wind assisted 30 yard free kick which nestled in the bottom hand corner. A SHELLshocked Mexoc needed to act fast  and after half hour of football they won a free kick on the edge of box, a game changing moment. Match of the Day pundits would describe it as one straight from the training ground, what training ground though I have no idea. Surely this is what Paddy, Faulkner and Phil had been practicing on a game of Pro Evo the night before. A slight touch and lay off from Faulkner tapped the ball into Phil’s path who hammered an Eggxcellent free kick past the standing keeper. Game back on 2 - 1

Mexoc were still celebrating the goal and before they knew it were trailing 3-1 after the love child turned like a boat and smashed a right footed drive into the bottom hand corner. A few more chances were created including a goal for frosty which was ruled out, another highlight being Jon Willow who was still in rugby world cup mode assaulting there number 7, surely been taking private lessons from Rich “DeJong” Reynolds.

Half time came and Mexoc knew they were still in the game and they weren’t ready to Eggxit the cup at the first hurdle, with the wind in there favour they took to the second half with no team changes.

Mexoc carried on to create chance after chance with Paddy doing his best tony yeboah impression by hammering a 40 yard drive against the bar, moments later he picked up the ball from another 40 yard out and curled a free kick into the bottom hand corner. Though in a repeat of earlier Mexoc were still celebrating and caught napping before the Love child struck again. 4-2

Using the wind in there favour Mexoc created more chances, Paddy put through a perfect through ball to Mike Robbo who slipped the ball past the stranded keeper to put Mexoc back in the game.

Dan Causley was given the nod by the gaffer to warm up, with the final words from the bench being “Swansea just threw away a 2-0 lead with 4 minutes to go” he joined the game and introduced some much needed fresh legs in the centre of the park and made an instant impact. Dan latched onto Danny Willows 19th unnoticed foul throw of the game and hammered the ball in from 30 yards out.  Monkswell were on the back foot and feeling it.

Everybody in the Mexoc squad was playing to there full potential trying to impress the watching eyes of the ear pieced scout known only as JD as he briskly walked up and down the touch line.

With 20 minutes to go Mexoc knew the game was for the taking though there was a cruel blow when Monkswell against the run of play edged 5-4 into the lead

With 12 minutes to go Hudson was introduced to the play for Morrison who managed to stay out the refs book on this epic afternoon. With 5 minutes left to play Frosty curled in a ball from the right for Robo to calmly header into the top hand corner. 5-5. Mike Robbo surely thought he had secured the victory minutes later only to see his neat finish ruled out for offside, another dubious refereeing decision

The game continued into extra time with Mexoc choosing to play with the wind in there favour and soon took advantage when they took lead for the first time after 104 minutes of play courtesy of a neat finish by Causley laid on by Smith.

A swift change of halves and Mexoc continued to attack looking to secure the win, Mike Robbo would surely be top of the assists listings had Hudson converted any of the 3 one on ones gifted to him though instead showed the touch of a rapist and decided to play a perfect pinpoint pass to there keeper on all occasions.

The game was finally secured in the second half of the extra time after a neat cross, Mike Robbo found the feet of Faulkner who hammered the ball into the net. With Mexoc firmly in control they looked to run down the clock by bringing on Man of the Match John Fraser who didn’t put a foot wrong all game.

Game, Set and Match 7-5, 7-5, 7-5
