MEXOC F.C. Vs. Essemay O.B

The mighty MEXOC continue their 100% home record this season with an if not dazzling then a slightly dazzled display.

Two halves three goals in each half.

MEXOC took the lead early in the first half from a cross to the far post by D Causley which, carried by the wind, not that there was any wind, looped up and then ...down in to the Essemay keepers unchallenged hands that seemed to be made of flannel or parsley sauce or mashed spud or perhaps there were no hands at all in the gloves, however, what ever, some how he was unable to stop the cross drifting in to the net. A great start perhaps a little against the run of play?

This spurred the blues on to get another goal, quite soon afterwards I think. Pressure was applied deep in the Essemay half and MEXOC won throwing. From the opposite flank si steff, secretary and star midfielder, noticed a lack of movement from his team. Determined not to allow lethargy seep in to the MEXOC side he began a mazy run from one end, well, side of the pitch to the other losing his marker in the process and jinking past any opposition trying to halt his progression. He took up an instinctually intelligent position on the edge of the essemay penalty area that enabled him to receive the throw from john Faulkner. Si Steff controlled the ball expertly on his chest and return the ball to Faulkner on the volley with his second touch, skills that are regularly displayed by steff mastered on the training ground. The pass was inch perfect, Faulkner was able to whip in a pin point cross that was dispatched from close range, I think, not certain by who but probably Causley, the second of his second hatrick of the season. Steff’s tenacity almost paid of moments later when a he showed his genuine pace by keeping up with parvin's direct drive for the by-line and knock in with poise from six yards out the final ball in, only for the goal to be disallowed by the ref after seven or eight minutes of deliberation, when he adjudged the ball to have gone over the line before the cross

MEXOC resting on their laurels a tad, allowed essemay back in the game in the second quarter. They scored, a soft goal I’d say. Something of a mix up between centre backs and keeper I think, though I cant be sure.

MEXOC ended the first half with 10 men after Faulkner was seen to, I mean medically, by, I should have mentioned him by now, the returning manager of MEXOC, after a sabbatical in Italy coaching placement, triple by pass and looking at art but not to closely, Mama Fiorentini. Faulkner had a bloody nose.

The chat at halftime was nice if a little short due in the main to the football match taking place. MEXOC must have resolved to in the second half, in no particular order to, step it up a gear, keep playing football, get the ball wide, score more and stop them scorning which they did. Except that Essemay got another but by that time Causley had completed his hatrick and logue had scored also.

The game seemed to fizzle out a little in the last fifteen minutes and the ball seemed content to spend much of that time 20 foot above ground.

Other things of note.

Regan's consistent and effective felling of players, well one in particular, in the middle of the park. Advice, try not to laugh in the face of the man who is cussing you for levelling him from the sidebehined, it winds them up.

Kev Johnson for taking one in the ribs like a man again.

John Faulkner running around with a bloodied wet wipe hanging out his nostril.

The man of the match was probably hatrick (how the f*** does ons spell hat trick) man D Causley. Well Done Dan.

Oh, and the irony of Si Steff wining by-lineo’s after the game in Kelly’s

Simon Stef Secretary MEXOC F.C.
