Home league match played on 07 November 2021.
Kicked off at 12:30 PM

As last week, conditions wanted to play their part in disrupting the game and today was all about wind. We set up on the jericho Lane hub on a full sized pitch and got ready to continue where we left off the week before. The 9 who played were gaurenteed a start and 2 others got to join them in Luke and Alex. The game kicked off and although it was scrappy we took instant control of the game and bearly let heron out of their box. It took 10 minutes of sussing out the wind and a few stray chances before Jack T managed to get the ball over to Uday who side footed the ball into the far corner from outside the box and settle any nerves. 1-0 4 minutes later with George already having created a few chances he fed a pin point through ball into Jack W path who as in form as he is poked it past the oncoming keeper into the net 2-0. George continued to cause them problems with his delivery and ability to hold up the ball and 3 minutes later got down the left hand side and whipped a great ball to the other winger drew who cooley finished it past the keeper. 3-0 Complacency seemed to creep in and Heron gave us a warning when they broke through the defence and went 1on1 with deputy keeper Luke. They got a quick shot off which Luke managed to get down and take some speed off but the ball carried on towards goal, where Hayden in desperation got onto the line and tried to clear it but only managed to stop the ball dead on the line as he was off balance. The Heron striker and Alex raced for the ball with Alex managing to get the ball clear for a throw. In the 22nd minute George stepped up to take a corner and delivered another great ball right through the 6yrd box and this time Connie was on hand to prod home from a yard out on the back post 4-0. Connie grabbed he second from inside the box when Jack T had worked his way in and got the ball off to her. 5-0 Half time. The second half started and the team really struggled at first to adjust to playing against the wind but they still dominated the play and passed well down the righ and left but failed to make any real chances until the 50th minute when drew crossed a ball into the path of Oli who poked the ball past the keeper and into the corner. 6-0 Heron never gave up and started to get a bit of needle in their tackles constantly bring down drew as he worked the ball past them. One of the fouls resulted in a great free kick from matt which archie was unlucky not to convert. Heron broke through eventually and struck the bar with a powerful strike and again shortly after forced Luke into an amazing save in a 1on1 situation which at full stretch he managed to tip round the list for a corner. This was Herons last real chance and seemed to take the fight out of them. On 60 mins Connie got her 3rd when Hugo took charge of the ball down the left side and fed the ball right into Connie's path, she then carried the ball 30yrds, held off the defender and rounded the keeper before tapping into the empty net. 7-0 A minute later Connie turned provider with the team move of the day with a number of players linking up before Connie played it through the defence and Oli calmy out the ball in the corner of the net. 8-0 George had ran their defence ragged all game and created easily 10+ good chances and on another day we could have scored a few more and he came off with 10 or so minutes to go knowing he had done his job. Just before the final whistle Jack T went on a mazy run down the left side and unselfishly squared the ball across the box for Jack W to tap in his second and make it 9-0 at which point the ref blew for full time. We will have tougher tests during the season and also in the county cup but today the team did exactly what was asked of them. ?????? POTM George
