Nobody Inn athletic Reserves 3 – 3 Caythorpe Sports and social

Nobody win 4-1 on Pens

The reserves had a few injury doubts going in to the big game, Cadman was still counting his money, Abel was awaiting baby arrival and was unable to play, Bristow and hilly were both key players last week win over totemic also both missing.

The gaffer went for an attacking back 4 after the lack of goals in a previous encounter and started Danny Williams and Daniel Banjo left and right back, Power was put into the midfield following some big messages from the lads in the morning getting him up for the big game, He was however picked up late because he was cleaning boots for the opposition.

Sam Cragg arrived late to the game meaning Nobods started with 10 men which was not ideal as Caythorpe scored in the first few minutes, Nobods couldn’t clear there lines and the Caythorpe player slotted in from close range. Craggy turned up and his arrival sparked Nobods into life who bossed the next 20 minutes, Power worked his little socks off and his Shot at the keeper fumbled and Jacko slotted Nobods level, Jacko was everywhere 1st 20 minutes and his quick feet was causing Thorpe real Trouble, Danny Williams on the same side was having his performance of the season and covered 8.9km during the first 45 minutes, Though he was also a massive fan of playing across his box.

However Nobods got caught with some slick passing and Caythorpe were back in front, Dicko lost his man and all of a sudden it was 2-1. It was at this point That Tom Selleck (Lordy) decided he was going to have the game of his life and Single-handily pulled the back 4 together. Nobods Character began to stand out though and it was quickly 2-2 Williams long throw was flicked on by Luczak and Petta the Romanian pinup pulled Nobods level with a tidy finish, Nobods congratulated him but he had no idea what was going on .

Nobods were not finished yet after twice coming from behind Power got a free kick when jacko was brought down on the edge and just like he had done vs Totemic he picked his spot and Nobods were in front. At half time it was 3-2.

The second half was an even encounter Thorpe had a few half chances but Turbo didnt have a save to make. Nobods pulled the Thorpe keeper into a few good saves, Nobods did rattle the woodwork when Power again with a freekick had his shot tipped onto the bar, Dixon tried his dying swan act but couldn’t put it into the net. Whenever Thorpe got in Lordy was there to get back and get something in the way, Williams was covering a lot of ground, and banjo was wining clever freekicks and using the ball well, as Thorpe never really looked like they were going to score, Until craggy and turbo went dancing which was a mistake and Thorpe equalised. Aiden James replaced Jacko after about 70 minutes.

Dixon and sully had been solid all game and controlled the game for long periods, the pitch was getting cut up and Thorpe’s long ball to their striker began to get a bit more joy though he was offside on several occasions.

Full time 3-3

The first period of extra time it was all Thorpe and Nobods were lucky to still be in the game but they weathered the storm and got a hold on the game again. In the second half of extra time they hit the woodwork again. Luczak had his shot tipped onto the post. The game fizzled out in the end as both team accepted penalties.

The Gaffer asked who wanted one, Aiden James and Daniel Banjo both said Yes followed by Tom Power, Jason Luczak and Christian Petta.

Jason went first and smashed it under the keeper 1-0, Thorpe replied to make it 1-1 Petta was next and he placed it wide of the keeper and nobods were 2-1 up, Up stepped the next Thorpe player but Turbos quality showed and he palmed it away, power had the pressure pen and he smashed it home 3-1, Thorpe now needed to score but again turbo was up to the test and banjo had the chance to win it, and he put it right Into the bottom left bag and Nobods went wild.

The lads celebrated knowing that they had knocked out the cup favourites setting up a semi final vs Colsterworth who have3 times this season given nobods a good game.
