On 10 September 2026, Northerners Blue U13 travelled to Sylvans AC in Guernsey for a league away match kicking off at 6:00pm. The 9-a-side contest saw Northerners Blue run out convincing 7-1 winners over Sylvans Red U13 in a commanding display over 70 minutes plus added time.
Northerners Blue lined up in a 2-1-4-1 formation, deploying two central defenders, Max Ellis and Liam Le Cheminant, to provide a solid defensive base. Oliver Whitwam guarded the goal, tasked with organising the backline and keeping a clean sheet. Ezra Leaman operated as the lone central midfielder, expected to link defence and attack while controlling the tempo. Ahead of him, the midfield quartet featured Jarvis Humphrey on the left, Theo Ferbrache on the right, with Connor Gardner and Morgan Finn occupying central attacking midfield roles. Josh Garland led the line as the sole striker, charged with finishing chances created by the attacking midfielders and wide players. The substitutes available were Alex Viera, Riley McCracken, and Mason McCracken.
The match burst into life early as Northerners Blue took the lead in the third minute. Josh Garland delivered a precise cross into the box, where Jarvis Humphrey rose highest to power a close-range header beyond the Sylvans goalkeeper. Just five minutes later, Humphrey doubled the advantage, this time finishing with his right foot inside the box from another expertly delivered cross by Garland. The early goals set the tone for the visitors’ dominance.
At the 25-minute mark, Northerners Blue made a double substitution, bringing on Alex Viera and Riley McCracken for Connor Gardner and Theo Ferbrache respectively, injecting fresh legs into the midfield and right attacking midfield positions. The changes did not disrupt the flow as Morgan Finn extended the lead three minutes later, converting a chance created once again by Garland’s assist.
As the first half drew to a close, Northerners Blue continued their relentless pressure. In the 35th minute, substitute Alex Viera found the net following a clever assist from Jarvis Humphrey, further stretching the lead. Immediately after half time, Liam Le Cheminant was replaced by Mason McCracken, maintaining defensive solidity.
Northerners Blue’s attacking threat remained potent as Josh Garland scored in the 37th minute, finishing from close range after a neat pass from Morgan Finn. The visitors’ fluid attacking play was proving too much for Sylvans Red.
Early in the second half, at the 47th minute, the team reversed two earlier substitutions, bringing Connor Gardner and Theo Ferbrache back on for Alex Viera and Riley McCracken. The impact was immediate as Ferbrache scored in the 48th minute, adding to the growing tally.
Sylvans Red managed to pull a goal back in the 49th minute, offering a brief glimmer of hope. However, Northerners Blue quickly responded with Connor Gardner heading home a close-range goal from a Jarvis Humphrey assist just a minute later, restoring the six-goal cushion.
Further substitutions followed with Liam Le Cheminant returning for Mason McCracken in the 57th minute. Then, in the 66th minute, a trio of changes saw Mason McCracken replace Max Ellis, Alex Viera come on for Ezra Leaman, and Riley McCracken substitute for Jarvis Humphrey, allowing fresh players to maintain the intensity.
Despite the changes, Northerners Blue maintained control and saw out the match comfortably, securing a comprehensive 7-1 victory. The team’s clinical finishing, combined with effective use of the 2-1-4-1 formation, ensured a dominant performance on the road.
