7s vs Old Tenisonians III – 2-1 (Omar Moalin and Dave Yorath)

High flying 7s went into the game against bottom of the table Tenisonians looking for their 3rd win on the trot.

First half passed by without any real chances until we conceded from a corner, they been quicker to react to a loose ball. That woke us up a bit and we started to dominate the rest of the half but It seemed for long periods of the game despite chance after chance this one was going to get away from us. Missed 1st half chances from Ben,Jack,Omar (the 3 amigos) left the score 0-1 at the break.

2nd half continued in same way, but we were unable to break through and we were nearly two behind if it was not for a joint effort from Joe in goal and Paul T who ended up clearing off the line. This was to be decisive as a few minutes later Dave Yorath managed to level the scoring firing one in from a corner (with the help of the goalie). With at least 15 mins on the clock there was only going to be one winner from here…hopefully.

Jack who was lively after a 3 week break managed to force his way into the box from the left and managed to find Omar who of all his chances somehow managed to put away the hardest one away with a superb finish (toe poke) in to the top corner, making it 2-1  to the 7s. Jermaine had couple of half chances later on but can save them for another day as the 7s record 3 wins on the trot and move up to 3rd in the league.

Jack was voted MOM by those who remained after for a drink, although Ben didn’t look at all happy with this decision!!

As a team we are gelling nicely and with the next round of the LOB Minor cup it will be hard for the joint captains to get a place back in the starting 11…..oh well that’s the joy of picking the team I guess J

On another note we are very concerned about Paul Whelan, he seems to have some imaginary friend following him every week elbowing him, will keep a close eye on him.

It was also nice to have a record home crowd of the season to date. A total of 8 people came down to watch at some stage (granted no one watched the full 90 mins)…we may start charging next week.
