MEFF #27 - CALL OF DOODIE 2 – 3 KIERAN:

MEFF #27 produced one of the more relaxed games in recent memory as the unfortunate occurrence of odd numbers produced two one-sided halves, with Griffiths (the last to arrive) swapping between teams at half time. The teams with 7 players dominated their respective halves as they saw all the possession and almost always had a spare man in attack, with Kieran’s Kool Klub taking a 3-0 lead at half time, before the tide turned and Patto’sCall of Doodie got 2 goals back in the second half as the Kool Klub were forced to sit back and defend their lead.

Nevertheless, the weaker teams did have their chances and Steels made some fantastic saves (nudging one low Patto shot onto the post in the first half, and then smothering countless attempts when his team were reduced to 6 men), while Crozier ended up marshalling the Doodie goal and made several low stops to keep the score respectable when his team were struggling and outnumbered in their own area, before denying SuBo his hat-trick on more than one occasion when the Kool Klub threatened to break.

0-1: Own Goal(a period of sustained pressure ended with Griffin finding himself free on the left wing, and his low cross-shot was redirected with a toe-poke into the net by Neil)

0-2: SuBo(with his team dominating possession, Kieran played a one-two with SuBo, who rounded Phil and whipped a shot beyond the helpless Patto on the line)

0-3:SuBo (Daz’s quick throw allowed SuBo the space and time to lob a tired defence from 15 yards)

Half Time

1-3:Patto (Luke held up the ball in the area, before cutting the ball back to the advancing Patto who moved the ball around Spence’s diving challenge and sent a low shot under Steels)

2-3:Ash (Phil’s throw from the left was nudged on to the right wing with a backheel by Neil, where Ash was waiting to smash a fierce shot into the bottom left corner with the last kick of the game)

Men of the Match were Steels, who constantly thwarted Doodie’s attacks with a series of excellent low saves, and Crozier, for doing the same thing at the other end!
