THE TEAM WITH NO NICKNAME UNITED 4 –  5 THE WIZARD’S SLEEVES:

Both teams were greeted to a warm evening on MEFF #4. The Team With No Nickname United started the brighter of the two with their opening goal coming midway through the first half with Luke slotting the ball into the bottom corner after a precise through ball from Sicky. However, The Wizard’s Sleeves reacted well and replied through a well guided Boom Boom header from a pinpoint corner delivered by Adam. This gave the reds a much needed boost as they were able to retain possession and trouble the yellows goalmouth. The second half goalfest was opened by SuBo latching onto a long ball over the top from Rowan resulting in a silky lob over the onrushing Paul into the empty net. The Wizard’s Sleeves then had a further 3 goals go unanswered. The first of those coming from Boom Boom, after a Griffin pass was intercepted by Subo whose run and low shot across the keeper rebounded off the post into the path of the following Boom who then laced the ball into the net first time. Subo further increased the lead when he picked up the ball about half way and jinked in between two United defenders and then smashing the ball past the helpless Steels. The 5th goal came from Adam who was played in by the returning Neil, and his low drive with his left foot found the bottom corner.

The Wizard’s were in control of the game at this point, quite happily soaking up United pressure and catching them on the break. However, the game turned on a controversial note when during a Sleeves attack, Taylor was barged in the back in the United area with nothing given. The Wizard’s then half stopped expecting the foul to be given but United played on resulting in a goal. Kieran played in Griffiths whose finish can not be doubted as he lashed the ball into the far top corner with his left foot from several yards. United continued to press onto a tiring Sleeves and were rewarded with their efforts when they scored a third through Griffiths who dabbed the ball in from a yard after a fizzed ball across the area. United added a further controversial goal to take their tally to 4 after the Sleeves were adamant the game had finished and once again stopped playing but Sicky was able to lash the ball towards Rowan who palmed the ball into the net.

Men of the Match were SuBo for Sleeves with a ‘captains performance’. And Griffiths for United for his energy and goals.
