MEFF #9 – THE WIZARD’S SLEEVES 6 – 8 THE PD FILES:

Although The Wizard’s Sleeves had a strong opening in the ninth MEFF and raced to a 4-2 half-time lead, The PD Files, commanded by Griffin, produced a storming second half performance (defensively and in front of goal) to dethrone the reigning champions at the sixth time of asking!

1-0: SuBo (after good work from Brett, Crozier released SuBo down the right who cut inside and finished low under Rowan)

2-0: Fletch (another strong run down the right allowed SuBo to pull back the ball for Fletch to smash home)

3-0: Aidan (Brett used his knee to bring down a long ball and play in Aidan who deftly flicked the ball home)

3-1: Spence (an unchallenged run from Adam presented an easy chance for Spence as he ran into space)

3-2: Luke (evaded two challenges and rolled the ball home beyond Griffiths)

4-2: Fletch (Brett was found unmarked in the area and he laid the ball back for Fletch to bury)

4-3: Griffin (Luke squared to Griffin who lashed home a left-footed strike across Brett)

4-4: Phil (Spencer squared the ball for Phil who made no mistake of burying the ball)

4-5: Luke (Luke won back the ball and struck and early, long-range strike that evaded the sprawling Tugby in goal)

4-6: Luke (Phil’s pass freed Luke who bundled the ball over the line)

4-7: Adam (good work from Spencer allowed debutant Adam to strike the ball home)

4-8: Sicky (managed to get just enough on Luke’s pass for the ball to somehow fluke- spin under and around the keeper and defender)

5-8: Aidan (good interplay between SuBo and Brett allowed the latter to accurately pass into the path of Aidan)

6-8: Patto (Fletch produced an accurate switch-ball from the left which Patto toe-poked home into the bottom left corner)

Men of the Match were SuBo as “he was the best player”, and Phil P who was “assured on the ball, kept it moving and [produced an] all round good performance”.
