Away cup match played on 13 October 2012.
Kicked off at 2:00 PM

Sometimes you just end up playing a better team.

This is what happened to us on Saturday – simple. Hadley sit undefeated at the top of the division above, and truth be told, they wouldn’t look out of place in the prem. Playing as we did on the wide and lush surface, I had an inkling that we were in for a game when after 30 odd passes from the Kick Off we hadn’t yet touched the ball!

In a first half that saw Potten reduced to a 4-zip deficit, Hadley passed with pace and movement. They always seemed to have an option, and a few long range well taken strikes found their way to the back of our net.

Passionate and unbowed at half time Nolan spoke of some pride and referenced Macca’s directive to work off the ball just as hard as with it.

A second half saw a more resolute performance. Jonny had run his race (or was that rum and chase) and dropped into the defense releasing Ben into midfield. A cabinet reshuffle aided by the surprise turn out of Simon Gill enabled us to press Hadley a little. Some composure from Gregor (thank you Mr M so much for helping out) in goal fed Nolan in space, and his ball though to Gav pushed over the top released Alkie to add some credibility. Hadley did score a sublime flicked goal before Alkie added a second, and a final score of 6-2 meant that Potten held off a cricket score. Defending as If we were winning Dave saved a certain goal heading off the line exemplifying the resolve of this team. Keiran won just about every header he was asked to, Rob chased and Ben hustled. We were in no mood to take a pummeling.

A word or two about the game:

·               At 4-0 HT to draw the second half 2-2 shows an awful lot about you guys

·               At 40 (and some change!) Mr Nolan you are an inspiration and a True Potten hero (and you've had more partners than Jordan)

·               MR Gill – great photo’s and WELCOME HOME!!

·               You are a real TEAM guys and I hope you are enjoying this season as much as I am
