Home league match played on 17 March 2013.
Kicked off at 10:30 AM

The recent run of form means that winning not losing is becoming a bit of a habit as the Prince Of Wales eased past strugglers New Invention with only a few uncomfortable moments to endure. Baz went again with a 3 5 2 , revealing the shock tactic of selecting the lothario and legend that is Pedro Haddock in the back three. Pete  indeed added that exquisite touch of class that mingled well with the robustness of Dean Norman and longleggeditivity so personified by the inimitable Ben Lawley at the back. Debutant Joe Cohen was thrown right into the mixer in the centre of midfield to add that bit of energy and youthfullness to our veteran pairing  Acker and Anton. Roberts and Coop meanwhile were handed the unenviable task  of legging it up and down the flanks and do their 2 jobs for one offer as wing backs, as this was were we thought our opponents could be exposed . Mmmmmm..............Geoff/Col up front  ??...a bit similar thought Barrington  , but surely enough to see off the visitors with  pace . Ben ChrisWood-Wilson was given a benching compliments to his sore ankle as was young Malcolm and Steven Vaughan-Campbell-Vaughan, who  remembered the kick off was 10 30am  and came just in time to get the 15 shirt ! Definitely not an afterthought ..that man Toone between the sticks once more ...he is getting better every week despite not filling up the goals as well as Casso . The pitch was stickier than Antons underpants but the home side went at em right from the KO , Cohen flying in like a hooker to earn a few reprimands and also a few winces from the sidelines ... Col and Geoff un nerved the Invention as we piled on the pressure with wave after wave . The Pink and Blacks (yes Pink ) did counter but were restricted to half chances which Toony handled with calm assurance . Deano flew in and earned a booking but avoided the afters which 3 years ago would have resulted in at leat two red cards in one go.Well done Mr Normo ! Coop had a stormer and managed to combine defensive stoicism with flambouyant style . Roberts headed the ball -unthinkable . A succession of corners and free kicks for us paid dividends when Col drilled one in for Acker White to glance in and send us one up. Joe Cohen had a mad 20 minutes of shuddering tackles , thudding in to a dearth of defenders  leaving the ball for Mr Smiths son Geoff to steer home with aplomb . Should have been game over but we took our foot off the pedal a bit . A shot from the edge of our pen box rattled against Pedro from 2 yards and Mr Boswell the ref adjudged a very very harsh spot kick , well taken by Stainsey  to award the visitors a goal . Much constructive debate at half time ..no arguments and just knowing what we had to do . Col and Geoff had half chances but the Invention upped their game and tightened up a bit . Baz was getting tetchy but a corner from Andy allowed Anton Allen to rise like a butterfly above everyone and increment his goal tally by one . Still a few dodgy moments but I ay complaining . Top shows from Coop and Geoff first half . Mr Toone very confident . Campbell-Vaughan-Vaughan-Campbell relieved Joe for the last 20 , the ex Leeds Rhino earning a break. Even young Malcolm came on for his second  outing and did well -Squizz determined to come on despite his knock. We hung on in there boys and I was well delighted with another win - sometimes you have to scrap it out and thats what we did . A visit to Wolves United next week where we will need to perform to come away with our first double of the season ? Get in .

Debut man !
