The Royals made a sluggish start in this divisional cup semi final at Springfield Hall Park, and went behind after only five minutes. The next twenty five minutes were a bit scrappy although both sides had goal scoring opportunities.  The Royals gradually got into their stride and got their passing game going rather than lumping it forward at every opportunity. They were rewarded after 39 minutes. James Aishford made a surging run forward. The ball came to Brad on the left and he struck a powerful shot across the keeper and into the far corner of the net for a fine equalizer.  With the slope in their favour Red Star made a brisk start to the second half and within five minutes they were ahead. James Aishford's through ball reached Brad and as he approached the edge of the penalty area he showed good skill and composure, to take the ball round the advancing keeper before side footing the ball home from not the easiest of angles. For the next half an hour the score remained at 2 1 with the visitors looking fairly comfortable for most of that time. The back four looked solid with Daniel Latham and Max Simeoni playing well in the the centre. Wingers Adam Rigby and Lee Farrand both made a number of good runs stretching the Springfield defence. The home side kept battling though and never gave up. On 79 minutes however Red Star got the cushion of a third goal. James Aishford's in swinging corner was neatly headed home by Mike from close range.  Springfield kept going to the end and there were a couple of nervous moments for Red Stars supporters, but their were no further goals.
