Sycamore St Ann’s 2-3 Robin Hood

(Price,J.Gibson,J.Allen,S.Allen,T.Betts,K.Milne,M.Worthington,C.Betts,G.Millar,G.Gregory,C.Ingram)

So with 11 players the Robin Hood boys started where they left off in previous games, in a positive mood was it finally going to be a change of fortunes? Robin had good possession in the opening minutes, and took the first chance they created. Some great midfield play from Carl & James helped Craig Ingram score a simple tap in from some great movement from Grant Gregory who beat the keeper and the defender to the ball who laid it on a plate for Craig to slot into an open goal. A break up in play and Garry Millar slipped in Grant Gregory who had made a great diagonal run beating the defence, to slip a beautiful ball across the 6 yard box for Kyle Milne to slot coolly home 0-1.

5 minutes later the home side went straight up the other end and when Scott Allen didn’t get an obvious free kick the St Ann’s striker through clean on goal & James Allen took the law into his own hands with a rash high wiped out challenge PENALTY!!! The Robin defender lucky to not even get a yellow. Penalty slotted away 1-1.

That was the first attack the home side had as the whole of the Robin boys were pressing the ball all across the pitch today. A left cross in by Garry Millar dropped to the quick feet of Kyle Milne who from 18 yards struck a beautiful low drive to hit the post and go in, 1-2 only what the pressure had deserved.

Robin Hood Boys good value for their 3-1 lead at half time.

Second Half started and let’s say the first half was the better half. Robin Hood defended well in the second half with Scott Allen having a solid faultless game at the heart of the defence. Robin defended the 45 minutes really well creating no chances. This was definitely a game of two halves. A great run by the St Ann’s left winger putting in a great ball for the striker to make it 2-3. This left a nervy 20minutes. The back 5 played out of their skin with defending with the heart on their sleeves. Not many chances this half just a scrappy but solid defence with limiting them to shots from 20+ yards and the safe hands of Price never looking like getting beat. Finally the Robin boys got there season off to a winning start with a well-earned win.
