Robin Hood 10  Ashfield 0

Welcome to the new season at Robin Hood and what a great start it was. We were determined not to have a repeat of our previous 2 openers at 11 aside where we had lost 4-0 and 5-0. This time it was our time to have a winning start.

From the 1st to the last minute we were dominant with some outstanding play. Kingy was the first on the score sheet after some nice team play and Tommo firing over a cross for Tom to finish clinically with confidence. Tom then turn provider for his new strike partner in Coner, who in pre-season had shown his class, finishing in great style against his old team. Before long we were 3 up after a goal keeping error fell to James who again finished in style. After a few changes we carried on pressing and it was Maddo’s turn to impress and after some good work and vision found Tommo and his clinical pass found Coner in space to grab his brace. 4-0 and a stunning start with all the lads playing with confidence. Our half time score of 5-0 came from a cheeky header from Harry after an inch perfect Dec free kick. Ashfield to their credit didn’t give up and if it wasn’t for 2 fine saves from Kieran the half time team talk could have been so different.

Sending the lads out looking for more good passing and team work and wanting to work on getting more confidence on the ball we sent the lads out. A repeat of the 1st half we saw the lads score 5 more cracking goals. James once again took advantage of some messy defending and unleashed an unstoppable curling shot from 15 yards to grab his 2nd of an eventual hat-trick that wrapped off a man of the match performance from him. The next 10 minutes were the Luke show. Not to be out done by his other attacking team mates, Luke finished off a move that had seen James shot saved. Not happy with that goal he grabbed a beauty with his left foot curling it into the top corner. Time for James to get his hat-trick again after some great team play Tom’s cross found Coner whose scuffed shot fell kindly to James to bag from close range. With the defence standing strong and head down from our opposition up stepped our Captain to score arguably the best goal of the day with a stunning 25yard strike hitting the back of the net. 10-0 our best ever 11 aside score line.

Nothing can be taken away from the rest of the team who all preformed stunning. Our back line of Dec James Mac, new boy Reggie, making his league debut, Jack CC, who hit a stunning 35 yarder early on in the game, Jacob and Ronnie who dropped in for James at centre back and then returned to midfield, not putting a foot wrong.

So all in all a great day for the reds. Well done to you all.
