Second game of the season and looking for a repeat of last week’s fantastic win. Again a squad of 16 players all fit and raring to go. After some good work in training we hoped the lads would take that into today’s game.

The game started and we were pressing very well. Passing well and linking well as a team. We were made to work really hard by Woodhouse but were defiantly the team on top we just couldn’t make any real good scoring chances. Mostly down to the Woodhouse defence staying very strong. Our defence struggled a little coping with the long ball but Dec, James and Kieran soon got to grips with that and we looked strong. Our deserved breakthrough came from a corner that Reggie dispatched with a venomous unstoppable left foot in to the back of the net. This calmed us and our passing play grew and grew. Reggie then became provider with a powerful run from right back and then finishing it off with a superb pass to Tom who finished confidently with his left foot. Within minutes it was 3-0 from another corner. The corner came in short and our captain controlled swivelled and riffled his shot into the roof of the net from a very tight angle. The boys looked very strong at this point, our wingers in James and Ronnie were playing with speed and intelligence our midfield with Tommo and Kian looked strong and our front 2’s running was relentless. At the back Jack CC continued to impress. Dec and James looking more and more a great defensive partnership and Reggie having a 1st half to remember. We nearly came in at half time with a matching half time score to last week with Conner forcing a great save from their keeper and the rebound fell to Maddo whose shot was blocked on the line. Then Kian could have doubled his tally but his strike flew just over the bar.

Half time and a quick chat of getting the ball on the floor more and passing a little quicker as when we did Woodhouse had no answer.

We started as we had left off and it wasn’t long before it was 4-0 after a cheeky chip pass to Tom from Ronnie allowed Tom to chip the ball into the net. A great team goal all round. At the back we looked confident using Kieran well and spraying the ball from side to side. But disaster happened when we gave away a seamlessly harmless free kick out on the wide right. The resulting free kick hit the bar and Woodhouse were quickest to follow up the rebound. Within minutes Woodhouse were back in the game with another goal from a free kick that we failed to clear. With 10 minutes to go we still looked very comfortable for the win and our team work and passing growing with every move. We looked like a proper well organised football team with great shape. We finally finished the game off with Harry scoring from a Tom pass after some good work from kian on the wing.

So 5-2 the score line and a very very good mornings work by the lads. What was good today is throughout the game we were trying to do what we have been working on in close season, and ok it didn’t come off all the time but when it did we looked absolutely awesome. I think the supporters and parents will agree a joy to watch. Well done boys.
